I absolutely love Mariah’s new facility and her trainer Ashley! They make a great team and I think it’s wonderful that we have another veteran owned business in our area. Thank you for always being available to help train both myself and my dog, but let’s be real it’s mostly myself that needs it! I love learning from you both! ❤️ More...

I met Ashley after my standard poodle puppy had failed out of a purely positive training class with a different trainer. She and I immediately saw eye to eye and I'm so grateful I found her. Through a few weeks of board and train and some one on one work, Ashley helped my dog learn to relate to other dogs (without freaking out) and to behave like a gentleman on a leash. I'm so grateful to have found her and will definitely be continuing to work with her as long as there are dogs in my home! More...

I trained with Mariah during a difficult time of our pitbull’s life and she was amazing! She was understanding and firm with Bleu and she helped us get him to a place that we are very happy with. If you’re looking for a patient and skillful trainer, Mariah’s the one! More...

We did training with Ashley. She trained our corgi when we first got him. After a week at home with him, we were losing it. He would nip at us, pee inside even though he just went outside, and he would never listen. So we did private training with Ashley. He honestly tried to fight us because he was so stubborn. After 8 weeks of training, he is a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and a Novice Trick Dog (TKN). He is off-leash and has amazing recall. If you’re looking for a trainer, Ashley is the one for you. She will also makes specific training programs catered to what you want! Such as “my dog hates grooming”, “we’re gonna do grooming for this week.” Best dog trainer ever!! More...

When we got Cooper at 2 months old, he was a total jerk. A really cute one, but a total jerk nonetheless. He had a poor temperament (aggressive, mouthy, overly independent and dominant, etc. ). We looked for training early and found Ashley. Through our first few private lessons accompanied with the homework we were given (we learned early that one of the biggest parts of training a dog involves being trained yourself), we had already seen a drastic improvement in his behavior. Now that he’s 6 months, we consistently get compliments about how well behaved he is, to which we always recommend and praise Ashley. Coops has come such a long way in such a short time and it’s hard to imagine what his behavior would be like without all of his training. A good “place” is actually a godsend. With Barks N’ Rec, you know that Ashley and Mariah are going to be no BS to fix any of your dog’s behaviors - anything from aggression or hyperactivity to issues with bathing and grooming, they’ll correct it and help transform your dog to the dog of your dreams. OMG I can't say enough about this place! Thank you so much to these ladies for their advice and hard work with training my deaf Dalmation. I had no idea what I was in for with a deaf dog but they helped me with training every step of the way! More...

Let me tell ya'll about the trainer Mariah here at Barks N' Rec Center! She is a straightforward clear communicator, but also relatable and friendly. She has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to dogs and also people. She explains WHY it is important to recognize negative behavior patterns and the importance in consistency. I could go on about her training forever. I know if and where my pup is going backwards in training, and how it's likely my inconsistency or lenience but I am able to reach out to her and ask for advice. Mariah trained my pup (really i guess she also trained me haha) and we moved to GA a few months later. We still keep in contact! She has helped me im finding the right dog food, i reach out to her if i think something is wrong with my pup (like a nurse advice line lol "should i take him to the ER or is he okay") She puts up with me when most trainers stop caring when you leave the facility! What I absolutely LOVE about Mariah's training is that she doesn't bend to favor the owner's preference. She sticks to what is best for a responsible dog owner and the needs of that particular dog. I have learned so much from her and I continue to learn from her even after the training sessions ended. Also, i get compliments ALL the time for how well behaved my dog is. I recommend everyone i can to her. I've even had people choose not to take my recomendation to go to her and regret it because you can not beat her level of training for the price it is. When it comes to training, you honestly get what you pay for. Integrity is rooted into Mariah and I know she will do everything she can to ensure the level of training is worth the price. ALSO, if you had a personal trainer to get you in top physical shape, wouldn't you want that trainer to be physically fit? Well if you ever wonder if Mariah is a good dog trainer, meet her dog Lyra! That will tell you everything you need to know about how great of a trainer she is. 10/10 would recommend! More...

We let our dog go for almost 2 years without any training and Barks N' Rec Center took him in for a board and train. In only 4 weeks he'd learned everything we'd asked for! She showed us how to properly handle him and sent us home with a reminder sheet for us to reference. The best part is they are always there to answer any questions you have about your pup! They don't just forget you after training. I highly recommend! More...

Ashley is an amazing trainer. We did private training with her when Winnie was 2 months old. He's a corgi and wanted to get his way. We're also first time dog owner so Ashley was there with us giving us as much advice and training as possible. Now, Winnie is a fully trained corgi, who will do what you tell him to do even when he doesn't want to. Ashley will also be there for you after training whenever you need her. 10/10 recommend! My husky, Iris, did a 4 week board and train with Mariah and Ashley at Barks N’ Rec Center. Before I dropped Iris off, Mariah and I discussed our goals for my dog. Mariah was thorough and easy to communicate with. She went above and beyond to assure me that my dog would be in great hands. Mariah and Ashley were able to accommodate my dog’s raw diet, which I appreciated. Furthermore, they are knowledgeable and both have extensive backgrounds with raw diets, so they were able to offer advice and tips for feeding raw. During my dog’s time there, they sent pictures and provided me with updates regularly. I attended weekly training sessions, and during each session, I was able to see major improvements in my dog’s behavior. Mariah and Ashley’s board and train exceeded my expectations. I now have a more respectful and obedient dog. Their passion for dogs reflects directly in their work. They are eager, driven and willing to do whatever it takes to help owners establish a stronger relationship and line of communication with their dogs. Thank you Mariah and Ashley for your help!
