Sir Michaels Party Rentals

We just had a huge Sweet 16 celebration here and Sir Michaels couldn't have been better.  I've been using Sir Michaels for 12 years and even though I've read some poor reviews, I've been 100% satisfied with their products, service, and prices.  They delivered one day early, so we could set up, at no extra charge.  It took them almost 3 hours to deliver the tables and chairs for 100, heater, etc. and set up the tent and dance floor because they had 62 stairs, down from street level, that they had to climb. They just did their job and never uttered a sour word when they realized what they were up against.  In fact, they were nice as can be.  They just now left after 2 hours of hauling everything back up the 62 stairs and were just as delightful.  I gave them back 3 broken chairs and told them I would pay for them and they said absolutely not.  Of course, I tipped them, and they were very grateful.  I will always use Sir Michaels. Stacey is a great rep. Great prices and great location in Eagle Rock. Easy to get to and load up.  Needed a long wooden table for Thanksgiving and they had exactly what I needed.

Great service and great friendly knowledgeable staff. I had previously ordered my rentals from a different rental company who was rated on yelp as a 5 star place. Well it just goes to show you that you that you can not believe what you read on yelp. I called the rental company placed my order and gave a deposit. Each time I called they said they would call back well 2 days prior to my event they did the same thing. So I did some research and found Sir Michael's boy did they ever come thru for me and with only 2 days notice! Stacy in the office who just returned back after some time off didn't miss a beat! She is very sweet and very informative. Later that evening I had to call back to get car service for my grandmother again Sir Michael's came thru! I am not sure why some folks have such good experiences with Sir Michael's while others do not. Looking at the negative reviews I see most are weddings.  Could it possibly be the stressed out consumer rather than the company? Yes there are little glitches as with all companies big or small, we do not live in a perfect world. Planning a wedding is stressful, and the stress that comes with it can really make things bigger than what they really are, the whole making a mountain out of a molehill  I will definitely use them again,and refer them to friends and family. Recently I used SIR Michael's for equipment rentals and their van service.They were very easy to work with, I had used them before, but this was the first time I used the van to transport people from a parking lot to the event.  It worked out great, especially because of the driver Craig, who was very personable and made people comfortable in what could have been an awkward situation.  I would recommend this again.  Thank you Craig. Michael and his staff once again gave our non-profit group fabulous, attentive, courteous service for our fall party:+ Although I didn't have an appointment, Michael took a few minutes to meet with me when I dropped by his store to discuss our order.  (Next time, I'll remember to make an appointment; it's more courteous and I bet he's often out of the store on site visits.)+ They must have 20+ color choices in their linens, so we found just the right shade for our event.+ Michel and Momo are very detail-oriented.  They put their many years of event planning experience to work for us, so we had a better party.+Michael himself installed the outdoor lights for our event and they looked terrific. + When we realized we'd forgotten to order napkins, Michael went back to his shop and brought us some.  Talk about service!+Several in our group have planned events as part of our profession, so we're pretty detail-oriented.  We like Sir Michaels.+Our group has been renting from him for years and he and his team have always done a good job for us.  Sir Michael's has earned our trust and we're happy customers. We received a call from the bride at 10pm the night before the wedding in a frenzy because the rental company she chose had the wrong date. I called Michael and he was able to pull together an entire setup for 70 guests. It was memorial day weekend and everyone else was unable and unwilling to help except for Michael. Sir Michaels is not a swanky rental company. But they get the job done.I called Friday afternoon to rent 8 tables and linens for Saturday morning, the weekend of Cinqo de Mayo.  I arrived to pick up the rentals, and was treated very nicely.  I was shown multiple colors of linens to choose from.  When in inquired about renting "serape" cloth, the owner agreed to, although he ordinarily does not rent them.  Our rentals were loaded into our vehicle (after some confusion about which customer was receiving what rentals). The rentals were good quality and they even gave us a bag to return the linens.  Returning the rentals was equally easy.  The pricing was super competitive as well.  I'll certainly consider renting from Sir Michael's again. Nice new tables, comfy clean chairs.... availability on short notice. Good price... no hassles! I've used them for several occasions now. We used Sir Michael's for my daughter's birthday party this past weekend and the service and price was great. We rented a long table and 12 chairs for the kids to do their crafty projects. They allowed us to pick the table up the day before (Friday) and return the equipment on Monday. The whole thing cost us just $20. Will definitely rent from them again. More...

I've used Sir Michaels for 4 events. Two Mad Men parties,  my wedding. and last week was for my baby shower. Everything with our Mad Men parties and our wedding went perfect. Last week we had a snafu with chairs for our baby shower but it all got worked out. I am surprised to read the bad reviews....I had a pretty good experience with Sir Michaels....the only reason for not getting a 5 star is due to the fact that they didn't respond to any emails and some of the younger staff inside aren't as well versed in your event as the owners (couldn't find the rental slip when I was there etc). However, I learned quickly and always made sure to speak with one of the owners and ask specific questions and therefore had no major issues!On to the good....I had to order plates, flatware, stemware and bar/water glasses for a 75 person wedding. I received a quote from Classic Party Rentals and after hearing 1500 dollars, I began to look elsewhere. I came across Sir Michaels as they are right in our Eagle Rock neighborhood. The quote I received from them was almost 1,000 less. I don't know what fees other Yelpers are upset about, but I felt Sir Michaels were completely within reason. Classic Party was going to charge for gas plus huge fees for both drop off and delivery. Sir Michaels only had one delivery fee plus a small after hours fee (as they were picking up at midnight).On the day of...they were not just on time, but early with the delivery. The plates and such were fine. No issues. Catering set everything up to their specifications and Sir Michaels were back to pick up when they said. Our company's used Sir Michael's on and off for several years. They've always been great to us, from setting up a tent,stage, lights, and 100 chairs to just six cafe tables. Never a problem. They really came through for us.  Last Saturday was my sister's surprise bday party.  It was going to be in our backyard in a tent.  But it rained, and it rained, and it was wet and disgusting and I basically woke up hating life that morning as I heard the sound of the rain.Well, we then decided the hell w/it, let's move the party inside.  We moved all the furniture from our friend's house to their garage.  We then moved in all the furniture rental (which we got from another rental company) and set up the party.But then we noticed something that looked rather ghetto.  The kitchen area was right in front of our really cool bar, and right next to our super lit up dance floor, and within clear view from our lounge themed sitting area.We called back our rental company, and asked if they could bring some curtains over.  They said they got nothing.  So I went on Yelp and I found Sir Michaels.  I spoke to Stacey who was so helpful, efficient and sweet.  I told her our issue, and she suggested renting some black curtains, which are attached to these long poles and stands, and we can close off any area we want.  when my husband drove down to Sir Michaels ,he also saw these really cool velvet rope entrance poles... like they have in clubs (which went perfectly with our theme).  So we rented a lot of the curtains, and the velvet rope entrance.OH MY GOODNESS.  It changed the entire party, everything looked awesome and the black curtains were the perfect backdrop.  I can honestly say that if Sir Michael's didn't come through last Saturday, our party would have been nowhere near how cool it was.  The pricing was also incredibly reasonable.  Basically curtains which will cover 10 feet are only $25.  At that price, why stop at the kitchen?  We also closed off the tv area, and went for a whole transformation.  The best part... it all cost about a measly $100.I'll definitely be going back to them. I recently got married (a few days ago) and used Sir Michael's for all my wedding rental needs, including service staff. The process was fairly easy and the prices were definitely better than other rental companies I researched. Sir Michael's was also closest to the wedding location, so it was the perfect match. What I was most impressed by was the service staff. I have to give a shout out to Julio, who was the captain. He took care of all of my guests including myself. He mad sure I had a plate of all of my passed hor dourves and champagne/wine. Even though I didn't eat much or get to taste anything else, he always made sure I was taken care of. I don't think anyone went without and overall, the service staff helped things flow perfectly. I highly recommend Sir Michaels. Their prices are great, their service staff is amazing and although communication prior to your event may be a little slow - shit gets done and you are golden. More...

I found Sir Michaels through my wedding venue - the 20th Century Women's Club. I thought they were great for the money! SIR Michael's event planning and rental recommendations were spot on for my 2009 Christmas Eve Party.The weekend before my party, I visited their storefront location and met the owner. He was very pleasant and patient. He listened, and offered his suggestions. I did a bit of price negotiation, and he accepted and was more than fair. On the day of my party the delivery man showed up with all the correct # of reserved tables, plateware, stemware, flatware, and linens, with extras thrown in at no additional charge!My only peeve is they didn't call me 1 day ahead with a specific time to expect the drop-off. However, everything worked out fine. And the pick-up the day after went smoothly too. I would highly recommend this business, and plan to use them again for future dinner parties. I coordinated a wedding for a friend at the LA River Center this past weekend. The LA River Center is a gorgeous venue, but you have to bring in everything, from ice cubes to silverware. Sir Michael's provided tables, chairs, linens, plates, cutlery, outdoor heaters, and serving staff. They were EXCELLENT. The event called for a lot of "scene changes," and the staff was proactive and responsive when it came to moving tables around. When little things came up -- ice running out, an outdoor heater needing adjustment, they were totally on top of it.
