I hired Sarah to design my newly purchased home last year. She was a great listener, and was able to design and execute all of my requests. It was important to me that I have a private, organic space, so Sarah recommended beautiful window treatments, handmade furniture, plants, and everything made out of organic and natural materials.I was nervous about buying art, as I never seemed to be able to incorporate it into a room on my own, but Sarah researched and recommended art to perfectly finish and bring together each room. My husband and I hired Sarah to design our new home right before we got married. Before we called her, it was impossible for us to agree on anything as we have very different styles. Sarah was able to understand our different aesthetics and create a space that we both love. She was also very good at making us both feel heard; we met with Sarah and her team together. She presented both of us with options for each piece in each room so we always felt like we were involved in the process.My husband is also significantly taller than I am, so we needed extra help, especially in the kitchen. Sarah customized our furniture, cabinets and counters so we can both reach everything and sit comfortably. Sarah is very skilled in her task.  She is creative and has a clear talent at designing and coordinating very peaceful and appealing visions.  To say I am pleased with the result is an understatement....I love my house now and the way I feel when Im at home...I feel relaxed and love all the design and unique pieces of furniture that were purchased as part of the project.  This was my first experience working with an interior designer and while it definitely resulted in a fabulous remodel, I was shocked at the costs it took to get this done.  This very well may be my lack of experience on this topic.  Sarah is very determined in her style and works to provide you options within the framework she is most comfortable.  In summary, you better be prepared to pay full price and spend some money, but if you are looking to be satisfied with the results and a unique experience, Sarah is excellent at providing that. I had a one hour consultation with Sarah and she was terrific! That hour flew by and I had so much fun getting good insight and ideas from her knowledge and expertise. We were sold. I'm so glad I made the call . Not only did planning and presentation of final design go smoothly, the job get done in a timely fashion as well. Sarah Barnard Design is an organized and helpful company. I've been able to assist Sarah on several projects and it's been a delight. It is obvious that Sarah, the owner and designer, cares deeply about her clients and their needs. Like any good designer, she helps the clients develop and realize their desired design style. But unlike many designers, Sarah is skilled at reading in between the lines. She knows that the lifestyle of her clients is greatly affected by the space in which they exist. Sarah takes great care to note the less obvious aspects of a client's life that would affect the interior design. For example, a client might not think to tell their interior designer of their minor health problem. But if the client happens to mention it, Sarah makes sure that the materials used in the house will not further aggravate that specific health problem. Regardless of the client, Sarah is intent on creating a space that is kind to the environment and each client's well-being. We had a fantastic time working with Sarah. My partner and I could not agree on a design style and so we relied on Sarah 100% to:-help us understand our budget and develop a timeline with stages,-understand our (very different) tastes and come up with a design that is appealing to both of us and is "uniquely ours" - a task I thought was impossible; -make sure the design is as beautiful as it is functional, and will be able to last for years to come through several stages of life, -provide an eco conscious design to match our green philosophy and-complete the project on time and within budget, despite our crazy lives and schedules.Sarah brought a tremendous amount of creativity and suggested ideas/layouts/colors that we never thought of or imagined before. It's very satisfying to walk into our house and feel like the space truly reflects our unique personalities, and not some design catalog. All our guests immediately comment on the beauty and uniqueness of our interiors, ask how it all came together and start considering hiring a designer themselves.We are busy professionals, and Sarah was incredibly patient with us to make decisions, find a time to meet, and even helped oversee furniture deliveries, paint jobs, handled tailoring, returns, and installations...we honestly couldn't do it on our own without her expertise, hard work, professionalism and kindness.Sarah is also just a fun, wickedly smart, talented person. I hired Sarah Barnard because I was impressed with her portfolio of work and I was looking for a LEED certified designer. In our initial meeting, I discussed my design intent and what materials I was interested in using and she really knew how to respond to my brief . In addition, she was one of the most organized people I worked with. I could count on her to take the lead on things like prequalifying contractors and drafting the request for proposal. In my opinion, she has competencies that extend beyond design. She respects and understands your deadlines and timeframes and makes things happen!
