This reference is written for Lise Lausiva and Paws Afoot. My wife and I acquired a new Yellow Labrador puppy about 18 months ago; we named her “Oakley”. As any lab owner will tell you, they can be a handful in the first couple of years. We had had a previous lab so we were not unfamiliar with them and their playful nature. This particular dog was as hyper as a dog could be. She constantly sought to be the center of attention—not uncommon for any young dog—and she would go to almost any length to get that attention. She would constantly jump up on visitors to the house, bark if the attention wasn’t forthcoming, and lick and wrestle with anyone she could get close to. From her very first meeting with Oakley, Lise was firm, consistent, and very gentle with Oakley. She taught her what was acceptable and what was unacceptable behavior. Slowly, our hyper lab began to pay attention and after only one session the difference was apparent. We had Lise come for four sessions, and Oakley benefited from every one of them—as did we. As directed by Lise, we put Oakley on a daily training regimen for about 5 minutes each time, morning and afternoon. We rehearsed her in the exercises we learned from Lise and saw daily improvement. While Oakley is still an active dog—all labs are—she’s rapidly becoming a very manageable, active dog. She knows how to ‘stay’, come when called, walk with her owner without pulling on the leash, and heel; all of which go a long way to turning a potentially frustrating experience into a pleasant one. I credit Lise with effecting this change. Her consistent, and what I would describe as her loving approach to training dogs, was incredibly effective. I highly recommend her, without reservation, to anyone looking to have their dog formally trained. More...

As first-time puppy owners, my wife and I were completely unprepared for the experience. I called several trainers, but Lise was the one we were really hoping for -- and fortunately she was also quick to call back! She put our nerves at ease and helped better train us (yes, us) so we could better train our pup. After the first session, we knew we were on the right track and have been so thankful for Lise's wisdom and guidance. More...

This is my Bruno. He was a barking , hyper, little devil until Lisa came along and showed myself and my Lil devil how to communicate with eachother. She worked with Bruno and taught him how to listen. And behave and not bark all the time or bite . She also gave me the skills to keep Bruno on the right track. Before Lisa came along I didn't know what to do. Bruno is thriving everyday and he is more joyful to be around and were enjoying his great behavior and how more calm he is. She is a great trainer and I loved how knowledgeable she is about pets . Thank you so much 💗 More...

I participated in the separation anxiety program by Lise and let me establish first that this is a program where the dog parent has to do a lot of the training and requires commitment beyond the program to continue the training after. There are no quick fixes for separation anxiety, and anyone who says there will be is most definitely lying. The only in-person element in this program is the initial consultation to assess the degree of SA your dog's experiencing. That said, after understanding the rationale and doing my own studying, I fully understand the need for the trainer to step away from the process so I'm very glad I was able to have Lise on hand to provide advice and guidance as I worked on the exercises with Luka. In terms of progress, while not major improvements (again, DON'T expect this), he's definitely improved! Before the training, he would usually start whining if I disappeared from his sight behind a door within seconds and, at maximum, lasted only 30 seconds before he started whining. By the end of the program, we got to 2 minutes, and as I'm progressing on my own, I've been able to add to that time slowly every day. Additionally, before when I left him with family, he would whine about 40-50% of the time he's left with them, but now, he only whines about 5% of the time at max, usually at the beginning. My family also didn't have to keep him perpetually distracted the entire time I'm away to prevent him from doing so! (Of course, they still use treats and play with him, but he would even sleep with my mom or sis for as long as an hour without issues!) This may all sound quite little but this is meant to be a long term battle and this slow, steady progress where he's being desensitized to me leaving the house/ his sight is helping to keep him calm even without the help of treats. Your dog will regress at some point, and when Luka did, having Lise's encouragement and advice really helped me develop the knowledge and techniques to move forward in the training without being too discouraged. I'm now very good at reading Luka's body language and assessing when he's under, within, and over threshold, and this has also helped me with his reactivity training. You can find a lot of videos on separation anxiety online and books on it too, but if you need more confidence, encouragement, honest advice and, solid guidance, I definitely recommend you build a strong foundation with Lise's program. I think that starting this improperly on your own can easily worsen things and make your dog develop even more negative associations with you leaving their sight, so it's important to start this right and start off strong! NOTE!!! Personally, if I had to do this all over again, I would work on Luka's reactivity first before starting the SA program so if your dog is reactive at home, work on that first if possible to maximize their progress on the program. Lise was our saving grace. We have a 13-month old Standard Poodle that was beyond stubborn. He refused to come when called and insisted upon pretending he was a sled dog in the Iditarod every time we took him for a walk. He loved to body slam visitors. After the 1st visit with Lise we noticed a marked difference in Stanley. Her training methods are based in kindness and very effective. She met him at his level. If Stanley started losing focus, she gave him a break. Every lesson ended on a positive. She worked tirelessly with my husband and I answering our questions and helping us get the training techniques correct, so we could continue building upon the skills she taught us. By the end of our 4th visit, we had a new pup and 2 very happy humans. We are well on our way to having a happier and better behaved/adjusted pup and we're better owners. Most importantly - we have a better bond with our best friend. Thank you, Lise! More...

In the past 30+ years, my husband and I have had the pleasure to raise three wonderful Golden Retrievers. We recently adopted a new Golden Retriever puppy, who is very, let's just say "spirited". We've never needed to have obedience training for any of our dogs, but found ourselves quite frustrated with training our new family member. A friend of ours recommended in-home 1-on-1 obedience training. We set about trying to find an in-home trainer and were so fortunate to find Lise! She has been an absolute godsend! We love her patience, positive approach to training, and actionable puppy psychology insights. We noticed immediate positive changes in behavior, in the puppy and us humans, on the very first session! Lise is very clear in her communication, reliable (always on time), and her rates are extremely reasonable. Lise also provides clear written instructions and other supplementary information so we don't have to rely on our memories. We chose an initial 4 session package which is now complete. We plan on continuing the weekly sessions with Lise in a few weeks once our puppy heals from her spay surgery! We highly recommend Lise! More...

Lise provided that for us in a very calm, controlled, and patient manner. She worked beautifully with Oliver and taught us to do the same. Patience was key, because even though he is a fast learner, Ollie is also very excitable and distractible. She was patient not only with him, but also with us!
