Brittany is amazing! She’s the Dog Whisperer of Boise. An absolute miracle worker. This will be a long story/review, but we have one of her most extreme trainees and his history should be known to understand everything she did for him and our household. He has had quite a traumatic first year leading up to severe fear and anxiety. A year ago we got a Pudelpointer puppy. He is such a love but quite obnoxious, as puppies are. We started basic obedience training at a Boise pet store where Brittany was working. She was really good and I could tell she was very knowledgeable. However, Webster is very smart and learned he could be naughty, correct himself with a verbal cue, and be rewarded. Chasing the cat, being told not to, correcting himself, then getting a treat was not working. It was for him but not me! During his brief training at the pet store, we discovered how shy he was. He would hide under anything and behind my legs and not participate at all. Not even for treats. I had also been trying to crate train him. It was an absolute nightmare! I gave up because his screech could be heard a block away. Around four months old, he was on the bed, horsing around, and fell off onto the hardwood floor. Due to his screeching, I took him to the vet where he was diagnosed with a soft tissue injury in his right hind leg. A month later, in September, he was puppy playing with another puppy and he started screeching again. (I’ll just mention he was fearful of other puppies and dogs so I was working on socialization.) I took him to the vet again, who did x-rays on his left knee. The x-rays showed that his knee cap was dislocated and flipped upright. The next day we were in Sun Valley at the orthopedic surgeon getting pins put in to anchor the kneecap. He was so uncomfortable despite the pain meds. A few weeks later, I noticed while he was pottying, that he didn’t have a lot of strength in the right leg. While at his one month checkup for the left knee, I mentioned the right knee and asked for an x-ray. That x-ray revealed his right knee cap was also in the upright position. A second surgery to insert pins in that knee. A few weeks later, he wasn’t doing well on the left side, so again, a trip to the surgeon. An x-ray showed the pins had dislodged and pushed all the way through the back of the knee. At this time, which is now December, the surgeon determined that the pins had been in long enough and they could just be removed. This entire 90 day period, he was on restricted activity. No running, playing, going upstairs, no going on walks. He went out to potty while on a leash. Because I have a taller SUV, I was lifting him in and out, killing myself due to his weight. These 90 days were crucial for obedience training, but we couldn’t even do sit or down because of his physical condition. After having the pins taken out of the right knee, he was free and discovered he could jump when excited. Any time I left and came home, mealtime, we had a guest over, etc he would jump up. Every shirt and pair of jeans I owned had holes in them due to his jumping. He had other behavior issues like barking and whining. He refused to leave or drop anything. Counter surfing. He ate anything left out like three tv remote controls and Crocs and flip flops. One day I took Webster and my other dog to the vet. Webster only came with us so he wasn’t home alone and he was left in the car. While I was in the vet with my other dog, the vet and I were discussing Webster’s behavior problems and we discussed putting him on medication for his neurotic behavior. During that very conversation, while left in the car alone, he chewed through my front driver seatbelt and passenger seatbelt, severing them completely in half. My husband had to replace both of them. His behavior had me in tears every day. I took everything so personal and thought it was my fault. I have only rescued senior dogs so I thought I was a failure as a puppy parent. I was literally losing my mind. The insanity was controlling our lives. Despite my tears, I would not give up on my dog. I know that dogs go to shelters, between one and two years of age, because they are not properly trained and their owner can’t handle them anymore. I would not be that person. Out of desperation, I decided I needed professional help and decided to reach out to Brittany. She had given me her cell phone number during Webster’s previous training. I texted her and asked about training him again. I really liked her and she was familiar with Webster prior to his injuries. I was so excited to find out that she had gone into business for herself. After coming to our home and observing Webster in his own environment, we did a six week course in our home. We practiced everything she taught us, but about halfway through, we discussed a board and train outside the home. Webster was just not progressing the way he should have due to fear, anxiety, and lack of confidence. During his loose leash training, he was so fearful and anxious. She witnessed how afraid he was just to walk out the front door. She showed me how to walk him just by doing circles in our driveway. One day I decided to take him on a short walk. We didn’t get 50 feet out of the driveway and he freaked out upon seeing the red fire hydrant. We turned around and went back in the house. The next day she came by and showed me how to get him past it. Later, I walked him on my own and we got a little farther down the street. He was so fearful of the sounds. The wind was whipping the flags at the neighbor two houses down and he was so scared, we turned around and came home. During this time, I was also trying to get Webster to use his new dog ramp to get into the car and out. He would not do it. I tried every high value food lure possible, to no avail. Webster’s fear and anxiety was holding him back from learning. I also did not have the skills to handle his level of fear and anxiety. Brittany took him to her house as a board and train at the beginning of April. It was originally for six weeks. It ended up being eight. Just before his six week mark, she started having amazing breakthroughs with him and we didn’t want him coming home prematurely. It was really hard being away from Webster, but Brittany sent photos and videos of him and his progress every day. She was always in communication with me, explaining everything and answered my questions (and I had a lot!) Upon the completion of his eight weeks, I had my first training session at her home with him before bringing him home the next day. She showed me how he stayed in place, in a down position, doorbell ringing and greeting guests, his new respect for kitties, thanks to her helper kitties, we walked him on his leash, took him to Albertsons where he showed no fear of loud noises like shopping carts. We went to her local park where she taught him confidence building by jumping up on the picnic table and the playground equipment. This wasn’t my dog! How could my dog that wouldn’t even go up a dog ramp do this?! The next day I picked him up, but first we went to the open field where she taught him off leash recall. My neurotic dog who left my home eight weeks prior was now living like a normal dog without fear and anxiety. I just was in shock about all the manners she taught him and how she broke through the fear and anxiety to build up a happy, confident dog. We are one day short of him being home for a week. He has tested and pushed to try to go back to his old ways, as Brittany had warned. With the tools she gave me, as his handler, I can now work with him to reinforce his new rules. It has been a total pleasure to have him back. We love our evening walks, we practice his “hop up” skills so he retains his confidence, he uses his ramp to get in and out of the car, he is crate trained (hallelujah!) so I can trust him when I leave the home and we all get a good night’s sleep. He respects our old, grumpy cat. Today I long leashed him in the front yard that he was once so afraid of. We practiced his recall with distractions, such as a skateboard going down the street and our neighbor working in his garage. He rolled in the grass and even walked over to the horrible, scary fire hydrant on his own that used to scare him so bad. Our house has been restored to peace and we are loving our brave, well mannered Webster. Whether you have a dog or puppy that just needs the basics, have a super high anxiety dog like Webster, or anything in between, I urge you to have Brittany train your dog. She exceeded my hopes and expectations because of her passion, work ethic, level of accountability, communication, her love for her “students”, and ability to teach pet parents to be the best handlers they can be. Brittany is amazing! We were a little hesitant at first to do Zoom classes but after the progress we saw day after day it restored our confidence completely! Brittany’s ability to explain the process step by step so clearly is what makes her zoom classes beyond effective! Our dog Venus is super leash aggressive and has many triggers on our walks, we wanted to be able to walk on the green belt this summer without stress, and slowly but surely we are getting there! Brittany is not only a superb canine trainer but also an inspirer, she gave us the confidence to become better dog parents. We are truly thankful for her dedication and patience, if you or your pup needs help there’s no one else we would send you to besides Brittany at Outset Canine Training! Brittany was recommended to us by a neighbor who’s puppy had recently completed training with her. As soon as we met her at our consultation, we knew she was the right fit. We appreciated her honestly and openness about her training methods and what to expect. What really sold us, was her willingness and eagerness to train OUR dog, with HIS behaviors and personality and OUR personalities too! Newman got soooooo excited every time she came over. Honestly, we think she must be made of dog treats. We now know what we need to do to have a well behaved dog, and that consistency is the key. She continues to keep in touch and is available if we have questions. We know that Newman will change and grow overtime and we plan to keep Brittany’s number handy!! We would (and have already several times) recommend her to all our friends and family! More...

Before we began working with Brittany our 6-year-old Yorkiepoo, Milo was barking excessively and difficult at the door and crate. We didn't have the knowledge/experience to know what to do. Brittany has been amazing training Milo and teaching our family how to reduce the difficult behaviors and enjoy the good things. He has almost entirely stopped barking in less than two weeks. Can't say enough good things about our experience! More...

I can’t say enough good things about Brittany and the way that she trains! I have two pups Penny a lab/husky rescue and Piper a black lab. It’s no exaggeration when I tell you that my girls are polar opposites. Piper loves EVERYTHING and EVERYONE to a fault. Brittany helped us to work on greeting other dogs and strangers without jumping or forgetting our manners! Penny on the other hand gets anxious around lots of people and noises... so we worked on not reacting and being able to still function/listen even when other things are going on around us! Not only was the training amazing but my girls absolutely adore Brittany... she has built her own unique relationship with each of them and that’s why she’s so good at training. She’s not the kind of trainer whose going to struggle to remember your name each training session... her ability to build trust and relationships with the pets and their owners is the reason she’s the only trainer we will ever use! She’s truly the best! More...

My puppy and I recently completed a puppy-training course with Brittany. My puppy is a smaller breed and was timid around the other large breed puppies. Brittany was very mindful of this and tailored the training to help build my puppy’s confidence. She never forced us to do anything that would reverse the confidence gained. She gave us alternative training techniques that better suited my puppy’s personality. Brittany has a solid knowledge base on animal behavior and clearly has a passion for what she does. I learned a lot from Brittany, I am very pleased with the results of the course. I highly recommend Brittany as a trainer. More...

As a first time puppy/dog owner, I felt overwhelmed at the prospect of correctly training my Saint Bernard pup Paisley. That all changed when I met Brittany who has been instrumental in the progress of my puppy. Paisley and I take one-on-one training sessions with Brittany and we've had so much progress! I am so happy with not only her professionalism but also her evident passion for all dogs and her kindness. I recommend Brittany to anyone I meet who may be exhibiting certain unwanted behaviors or they just don't know how to tackle the process of training without help. Brittany is always there whenever I have a question or want to get her opinion on something dog-related, she is truly the best at what she does! I 110% would recommend anyone looking for a trainer to choose Brittany, you definitely won't regret it! More...
