Off leash in Knoxville has helped us take our grumpy old dog Bo and get him into the world again. We go him several years ago as a rescue pit mix and he’s always been a great dog, except when he is around other dogs. With the basic obedience and aggression management course they offer, we have been able to take Bo out into public without him causing a scene. As for our other dog Echo, which is another pit we have taken in, she just needed to be taught some manners and this place nailed it. She is such a lady now when we are out in public. Overall this place really does work. Just remember that you will only get what you give when training your dogs. There will be work outside of the training sessions, but don’t let that discourage you. It is completely worth it and I highly recommend this place for training your dogs and yourself. More...

My overall experience with OLK9 was nothing short of enjoyable and informative. Remy (American Bully puppy- 10 months old) began his basic courses with Trainer Vashti. She worked through his stubborn streaks and helped me keep in control when there are distractions- distractions were a big concern prior to training. We completed both the basic and advanced with Vashti and she tested him every way she could before letting him graduate. We learned the commands but also had a lot of fun doing it. Remy looked forward to his sessions every week, and I looked forward to learning as well! There is some "homework" that you must do if you want to get out of the program what you're expecting, but it is worth it to see what you both can accomplish. All of the staff I encountered during my experience were knowledgeable, responsive and professional. I can't say enough positive things about Vashti, who very genuinely loves what she does and has a passion for helping both the dog and the owner. I would absolutely recommend this training program and OLK9 Knoxville. Don't let the price scare you away- you get what you pay for and they will work with you to set up a payment plan if needed. A well trained and obedient pup will give you peace of mind in public, around other animals and children, and create a stronger trusting bond between you and your dog! I can proudly say that Remy is now a pro both on and off leash at home, around the neighborhood and in public regardless of distractions :) More...

Highly recommend this facility. They ARE professionals and their training methods are excellent while also safe for your pupper regardless of the issues you may be experiencing with your dog. I've had a handful of different trainers and they were ALL excellent, engaging, and looking to fullfill what I expected and wanted of my dog while being realistic of course. But they definitely cater to you and are friendly in a really relaxed atmosphere. My great dane just needed some touch ups and mostly I needed to relearn some confidence in myself and me trusting him more in a safe environment so that we could go out in public and enjoy life again!Alex, Lindsey/Lindsay, and Vashti have been more than excellent! They were SO SO good with my boy and we began re socializing my big fella with other dogs in a safe environment and it went more than well! They really really do a great job here and even on your first visit they make sure you and your dog enter the building safely and away from other dogs if you're unsure of what to expect. If you're out of town, the google directions take you right there with no issue as well! We're an hour and 45 minutes away and it was every bit worth the drive. They also will recommend places you can take your dog before or after an appointment like dog friendly parks or buildings! Tiny perk also is a potty spot at this location which was helpful to me since we were traveling. These folks really want to see you succeed and they honestly really do care bout you and your dog. To me that's extremely important and why I chose this training facility over many many others. It's affordable and they work with you. I'm over the moon happy and Canyon is to, he made new dog friends and is a happy goofy dog again! ♥You can also do your AKC Canine Good Citizen here which is recognized all over the world. Wow, what an awesome experience! We initially went to K9 Offleash because our 1 year old goldendoodle was starting to show signs of aggression towards other dogs. We signed him up for the basics courses and the aggression management program. We had our first class with Vashti and were immediately impressed by the difference. Vashti made everything clear and was able to take all of our concerns about Murray and create scenarios that tested him and made us feel more comfortable learning how to correct him. After basics and beginning aggression management we weren’t seeing the behavior we saw from Murray at home, so she asked us to bring our other dog, Willow with us to a class. Turns out, she was the trigger! Her reactions were causing Murray to react. So, basics for Willow it was! She flew through the commands and even learned some new tricks! At our last class, we brought both pups back to see how they were progressing and it was an incredible transformation. Both have gained so much confidence knowing where their boundaries are. We are forever grateful for Vashti and the help she has given us and our pooches! More...

Oh dear where do I even begin.... I came to Off Leash for some help with my unruly girl. She is so different than my previous dog I had and knew I need so much help with her. She would bite, pull, not listen, you name it she did it. She tested my patience so much. I do believe I told my trainer several times I'm not so sure about this girl, some days I just want to open up the back door and let her go. (I would never actually just let a dog go.) I had committed to take care of her no matter what. I was the first person to be constant with her. My girl who's name is Koda now had been tossed around since a pup she was about 2 1/2 months old when I got her. I am her 4th and final home to her no matter what. (should have been my sign to say no right! lol) Any way after some research I found Off Leash. Let me just say it was a miracle. We started classes right away. Koda defiantly showed herself in class but she started picking up on the correct way to act. As she got older you could tell she really did want to please. Then the best thing happened I was able to walk her without her pulling me everywhere. We even walked into Petsmart once with a dog adoption going on and she didn't stop. She walked right past all the distractions like a champ. Our next test was to go visit my sister (she has 2 pups of her own). Koda did amazing she had learned the week before about manners with other dogs and I was able to learn and notice when she would get annoying to the other pups so I could separate or place her to calm down and give them some time. (they are a little older and so out of the puppy stage.)Im proud to say my now 9 month old girl has graduated from Off Leash and is doing amazing. Vashti Walker was her trainer. She was so patient with me and Koda teaching us how to work together and to show me how to take control so this little girl of mine doesn't think she rules everything. Thank you Off Leash and Vashti for everything. This place and the trainers are amazing and absolutely love every pup they see. Go check them out today. you won't regret it. More...

We had adopted a Great Dane/Hound mix, Winston. We were becoming fearful through the first two years we had him, as he was slowly becoming aggressive. He was growling at us and refused to listen to our verbal commands. Our concerns were that the growling would become even more aggressive, as he was showing the potential of that happening (the hound breed was becoming prominent). We were at our wits end, and were actually debating on rehoming him. We really hated on doing this, since when the Great Dane part of him came out, he was truly sweet, but the risk was becoming too great. We had decided prior to rehoming him that we would give Off Leash K9 a call and see what they could do for him (and us). Vanessa Pettite took Winston as a “board and train” and did an exceptional job! She did a great job in giving us regular updates as to his progress, and correcting negative behaviors. When it was time to bring him home, I will admit, I was “doubting Thomas” that his behavior would continue in such a positive manner, and once he got home he would start to act back up. We have continued to follow the commands, training, and structure that Vanessa gave us, and he has been back home for over a month, and he is a brand new dog!!! He has not once growled at us, he comes to us when we call him, and I am now able to have people in/out of our house without concerns of him barking, growling, or becoming aggressive. Diabetic Alert (or Addison’s Alert) Service Dog Program: Are you a Type 1 insulin-dependent diabetic in need of a service dog that will actively alert you prior to suffering a debilitating low in blood glucose, or an Addison’s Disease sufferer with low cortisol levels dangerous to your health? Do you have a hard time knowing when your sugar may be dropping, and worry that you may be a victim of a low while sleeping or just going about your daily activities? Finally, are you ready to take your dog (or help us find you a dog FREE of charge) and dedicate yourself to a 6 month – 1 year training program to help get some control back in your life??

We are here to help! This program includes Basic Obedience (including a complimentary CGC evaluation), and up to a year’s worth of weekly scent training sessions and consultations to help you and your dog learn to alert at home, in the car, while walking down the street, in an elevator, and (for dogs capable of it) while you sleep!

This program includes an e-collar during Basic Obedience, but the CGC will need to be passed without it (and we will help you wean your dog from the collar to get the same obedience with it and without it).

Scent work continues after the CGC has been completed and can last 4-10 months before a true active alert is attained (depending on age of dog and how hard the handler works at home). This program generally runs $5,000 – $15,000 but price will vary by dog and handler needs.
