What do you love most about your job?
I love seeing my clients make progress with their dogs. Nothing makes me happier than when a client with a particularly difficult behavioral issue tells me they don't need any more help! As a trainer, I have done my job right when you no longer need my help.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I am passionate about doing things right. Whether it be making sure to use the best training methods and understanding the science behind them, choosing the safest cleaning supplies, or finding the most environmentally friendly training treat that dogs love, I want to make the right decisions. Owning my own business gives me the freedom to follow my own set of morals and values without compromise.
Why should our clients choose you?
I began my training journey over 10 years ago when I got my degree in Psychology. Before I even graduated, I began an internship at the Prison Pet Partnership, where I learned how to do behavioral evaluations and train service and therapy dogs. Shortly after, I also began an apprenticeship to learn how to become a dog training instructor. I have experience with nearly every type of behavior issue and particularly enjoy difficult cases that require me to tease out what is happening, psychologically, to cause the issue at hand.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I am able to offer zoom training lessons, but I find clients learn better in person. I teach you how to train your dog, so it's ok if Sparky can't figure out how to launch the app!
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I use cleaning methods on par or exceeding the veterinary hospitals I have worked in. I do not allow extra dog clothing items into the building to reduce potential vectors of disease, and I clean any messes immediately. Working with dogs, it is important to protect dogs from each other with regard to disease, as well as protecting humans from zoonotic diseases, so my cleaning procedures are and will remain to be outstanding.
In-Home Dog Training
A certified trainer will come to your home for one hour and teach all members of your household the training methods necessary to accomplish your individual goals. All household dogs and household members are welcome during this appointment. After the appointment, you will receive a summary of techniques that were discussed and your trainer will follow up with you in two weeks.
Day School
Up to 5 dogs per day will visit the Academy for enrichment, training, socialization, and behavior management. Every dog will receive two 20 minute private training sessions with a certified trainer, in addition to their group activities.
