Working with Natalie was truly a pleasure! We planned our intimate destination wedding from NY and vendors like Natty made it SO easy and enjoyable. As far as communication is concerned, Natalie responded to emails quickly and was very detailed in her responses. She was also so sweet, friendly, and professional. We sent her an idea of what we wanted and she really nailed the design! The cake looked flawless and tasted even better! In fact, my husband's brother maintains a ketogenic diet and has successfully avoided sweets for two years. He saw the cake and HAD to have a huge piece! He said that it was BY FAR the best cake he's ever had. Wow. I'm lost for words. We just enjoyed a carrot cake that I ordered from natty cakes and I'm overwhelmed with joy. From the beautiful marbling effect to the fresh orchids along with how flavorful and moist this cake was within every single bite. I have purchased a cake from natty for the last 4 years and never have been disappointed. She takes pride and joy in her work and follows up with you from the time you order up until the day you pick up your order. One of my favorite details from my wedding (and engagement party) earlier this month was the cake! NattyCakes was recommended to me by a fellow bride-to-be, and when we met Natalie for our tasting, we knew we would look no further. Natalie was warm, friendly and very professional! Design wise, her style is very clean and modern and she worked with us to match our look. She is amazing at her craft and it shows through not just in her cake design but also in the taste. She went above and beyond with our tasting, to make sure we were happy with what we picked. In the end, we chose salted caramel for our bottom tier and flora black tea for the top tier. The flavors were so distinct and delicious. At our wedding, we ordered extra cake (20+ servings extra) hoping to have leftovers to enjoy the next day, but it was all gone before the night was over! So many guests told us how they went back for seconds and thirds! Lovely secret cake place. They're based out of the rocket warehouse in Berkeley but you have to make an order ahead of time by emailing Natty. The most beautiful and delicious cake I've had by far! I was last minute cake shopping for a friend's birthday, and I wanted something special. Everywhere I looked needed 2 weeks notice and the cakes were priced 100+, for something tiny. I'm SO glad I took the chance to message Natalie. She was able to accommodate me last minute, and I'm so thankful! Not only did I get a beautiful cake, it was so so so good too. I couldn't decide between flavors, so Natalie told me I could do both flavors (espresso and salted caramel) and wow was it amazing! I really can't get over it. It had white and pink marbling, with piped buttercream and fruits on top. When I went to pick it up, she was just finishing up my cake. To be honest, I didn't want to give the cake to my friend anymore, and keep it for myself to frame or something! Natalie even offered to add in a little pink rose and some gold detailing, which really sealed the deal. Now, we've all had a try of something that looked beautiful yet disgusting, but NOT Natalie's cake! It tastes just as good as it looks!!! The chocolate cake was so moist, and the espresso buttercream and salted caramel went so well together. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Usually, I go with Asian cakes for the soft sponge cake and whipped cream, but I'm really happy I decided not to. Natalie's cakes are beyond amazing in presentation and taste. She's so sweet too! Natalie was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding in April of this year. She was extremely easy to communicate logistics with and did an excellent job at creating the exact cake we wanted. From the coloring, to the added gold flakes that were her, the cake was perfect. Where do I even begin?! Natalie is honestly amazing. I came across Natty Cakes 2 weeks ago hoping to find a vegan bakery, or a bakery that can make custom vegan cakes. I saw 1 review (which I'm glad I did) that talked about a request for a vegan birthday cake that Natalie was able to make (she makes both regular & vegan)! I was super excited & immediately started looking into Natty Cakes on Natalie's website (lovenattycakes.com) & instagram (@lovenattycakes). I soon emailed Natalie about wanting a vegan cake for my 22nd birthday, & she quickly responded the following morning. She gave me a list of delicious flavors to choose from with any other requests I wanted to add (like flower arrangements she does beautifully, or a buttercream design- she also does beautifully). I asked for a succulent flower arrangement on a chocolate with raspberry filling cake that would serve 5 people with some leftovers. Natalie was so detailed, kind, & informative through out the whole process & said that a 6 inch cake will serve up to 14 servings! She's great with communication & I couldn't appreciate that enough. The invoice was a total of $67 for everything that I've asked for, & I just picked up the cake yesterday! It looked beautiful, & seriously tasted like nothing before. Moist, rich, decadent chocolate with a sweet, refreshing raspberry buttercream. SO GOOD, you wouldn't even tell it's vegan!! The price was well worth it for that cake, & a small, local baker like herself! I picked up the cake out of the restaurant kitchen she works out of (she definitely deserves her own place) & it was overall a truly lovely experience. I totally geeked out meeting Natalie in person because I followed her on Instagram & have seen the amazing decorations & videos of her frosting her cakes- which truly is mesmerizing. I was just super excited to meet someone who works so delicately & was able to be SO accommodating. I honestly could watch her videos of just assembling her cakes all day- I'm not exaggerating! I can tell she is a sweet, genuine, down to Earth human being with great talent & truly respects & appreciates everyone of her clients/customers. Her cakes prove that. You can tell she loves what she does & from seeing her other creations you can tell she's consistent, & constantly challenges herself with more design ideas. Natalie was super helpful in carrying my cake over onto my lap in my car (as I wasn't driving) & gave me suggestions on when to fridge & serve the cake she made. Thank you SO much Natalie for making my 22nd birthday special & definitely memorable, my non-vegan family loved the cake & were extremely impressed (phew)! (: Attention: Vegans & non-vegans, sweet tooth's & cake lovers, Natty Cakes is amazing, please support & give her a try - you honestly, won't regret it. She also makes other desserts!! Natalie makes absolutely incredible cakes! From our first meeting for the initial tasting to her delivery and careful setup of our dessert table, Natalie made everything look perfect. We opted for a small 8 inch wedding cake just for the Bride & Groom. When we wanted to make a last minute alteration to the cake she was quick to respond and confirm. The final result was a stunning cake cascading with flowers and gold leaf. While we didn't share our cake with our guests at the reception, we did share it with both our families who raved about how moist and delicious it was. Natalie uses fresh ingredients, and we feel good knowing we're supporting a small local business. She makes all kinds of other delicious goodies too, not just cakes. My girlfriend purchased my birthday cake from Natalie because the baker we typically go to was unavailable to bake my birthday cake even with a month's notice. (I almost do not want to leave a review because now Natalie might get too busy as well, j/k, always need to support the small businesses!)So she asked me if I had any other bakers in mind.  I didn't, vegan cakes I feel are hard to come by especially one that's delicious!!! Natalie is an amazing baker and artist! We found her and her bakery, Natty Cakes coincidentally while browsing for wedding cake inspiration on Instagram. She showcases all the different cakes, and pastries that she creates. You can see all the different decoration styles and cake flavors she's familiar with, and a great place to get inspiration. We were looking for a two tier wedding cake for 60 people with strict dietary restrictions (gluten free and lactose free). We saw on her instagram that she made a gluten free cake and also a lactose free cake for two separate occasion and immediately contacted her to see if she could do a gluten free and lactose free wedding cake. She quickly responded that she hadn't before but was incredibly excited to experiment. She worked with us to understand the flavors we wanted to try and how we wanted the cake to look. We sent her some cakes we liked on Pinterest and she made suggestions as to how she'd approach the design and the different types of tools and ingredients she's going to test with to get the result we're looking for that was still within our budget. It took 2-3 days via email to lock down the flavors we wanted to try and set up a cake tasting the following 2 weeks. Natalie works out of the Kitchener in Oakland, so it was incredibly convenient to get there and also find parking for our cake tasting. During our cake tasting, Natalie made sure to get all the details of our reception and coordinate delivery and set up. After a few days, we received an estimated price breakdown and since Natalie was experimenting with our cake she graciously made us a tiny version of our wedding cake so we can see how it would also look! We decided on a lemon curd cake with cheesecake buttercream frosting (gluten free and lactose free). It was absolutely delicious, and looked magnificent. On the day of our wedding reception, Natalie arrived and helped us set up both the cake and the pastries we brought. The space looked gorgeous and we couldn't have been happier. Natalie was recommended to us from another vendor in Kitchener Oakland and we could not have had a better experience with Natty Cakes for our wedding. Our goal was to do two cakes, one small "cutting cake" and 1-2 larger sheet cakes to have pre cut and plated for our guests for practicality purposes. Natalie was on board with this idea from the get-go, one of our favorite activities from our wedding planning was the day my wife and I came to Natalie's shop to do our cake tasting. We had such a hard time narrowing down our selection since everything we tasted was DELICIOUS. My wife and I have similar taste in that we love balanced desserts, we don't like super sugary or overly sweet desserts and quite frankly aren't the biggest cake eaters, but we devoured every last bite of the samples Natalie gave us. Our cutting cake was a Victoria sponge with raspberry preserves with a buttercream frosting that was out of this world. The sheet cake we wanted was actually a Mexican tres leches cake, Natalie informed us she had never had one before, but that she was on board to experiment and try to figure it out. Natalie texted us one day saying she thought her experiment had turned out well, but wanted to see our opinion. We happily obliged and headed back to Kitchener for round 2 of our tasting to try Natalie's take on a tres leches cake. She NAILED IT! Seriously, it was so good we almost didn't believe that she had never made one before. On our wedding day our guests were delighted to hear we were having tres leches and we received tons of compliments on the amazing cakes!To top it off, Natalie opts to use as many natural and local ingredients as she can (how cool is that ) and told us that it would probably be a bad idea to save our wedding topper in the freezer for a year. We ended up eating/passing our cutting cake out to our guests, and on our one year anniversary Natalie remade us a mini version of our cake (which was equally amazing). All in all Natalie is a total sweetheart who makes amazing desserts! We've even dropped by Kitchener for pop up events and have yet to try a dessert from Natty Cakes that we were not blown away by (and keep in mind, we normally never order desserts)! If you're looking for someone to provide that special dessert for your special event look. No further, I'm sure this awesome gal will far exceed all your expectations like she did with us.
