I am very happy with choosing to use Jeff and his crew with Landscape and Beyond.  I had about 5 different landscape estimates and narrowed it down to 2.  I initially choose Jeff because he had a legit business that is licensed and insured and had good reviews on-line, hence why I am leaving a review.   He was very thorough with his estimate while at my property to assess how much material I would need and he itemized everything from labor to materials so I could see how much everything would cost and decide if I would like to make changes to my needs vs wants.  Other landscapers would just give me round about numbers that included everything in a few lump sums.  He had a nice personality as well and seemed very professional.  He was very prompt in getting over to take a look at the property and to get me an estimate quickly which showed me that he valued my business even though he had several projects going on where other landscapers took a while.  All of these assessments definitely showed as he started and finished my job.  Very good at communicating, not pushy with sales and followed through on everything that he said he would do and more.  He and his crew were very good at being on time, quick and efficient.  Hard working group of guys and all of his employees were very nice, polite and professional.  They also cleaned up the property after every day's work which was nice.  My property looks great now and he really went beyond my expectations :) More...

We just finished our 3rd job with Jeff and his guys, and we couldn't be happier.  Our first two jobs were larger, taking several days.  This most recent project was a quckie - something that would have taken us 3 days to do and a LOT of backbreaking work, his guys managed to finish in just a few hours - and in 100+ degree heat!I can't say enough about Jeff and his crew.  They are all great to work with, professional, friendly and knowledgeable.  Jeff is a busy guy, and he may not always get to your project right away.  But I know from experience that he WILL get there.  I've learned that I'd rather be patient and wait for Jeff than go looking for another landscaper.  He is a great communicator, always returning e-mails/calls within a very short time, and is very helpful with supplying links to plants, equipment and other useful tools. Jeff and his guys are a hard-working bunch, and usually pretty budget-conscious, especially of YOUR budget.  No stone/rock dropoffs for them, they go pick up the materials themselves (save on delivery fees).  Jeff also steered us towards nurseries that had good prices as well as good plants, again picking them up himself to save us the delivery fees.  After our first two jobs we had a few issues with sprinkler head adjustments, and Jeff was always prompt in making the necessary changes.  He even phoned us several weeks later to see how the new plantings were doing.  When recent water restrictions caused us to look even closer at our irrigation system, we again contacted Jeff to make an adjustment.  He responded immediately, and the next day our problem was taken care of, no charge.  This isn't a guy who does the job and then takes off...he stands by his work.I've read a lot of reviews here, especially the negative ones, and have to say that my experience was completely different.  We had a very valuable plant that we wanted to relocate in our yard.  His crew tried to remove the plant, but were concerned because they weren't going to be able to dig up enough of the rootball to insure that it would survive the transplant process.  After much discussion we decided to not try to transplant it.  During two of our projects it was necessary to turn off the irrigation system, leaving our lawns and plantings at risk.  Jeff's guys made sure to hand water everything, and never left for the day until everything was watered.  They were careful to let me know which zones were turned off in case I wanted to give the areas extra water.  With all three of our projects Jeff arrived and was there every day until the jobs were done.Jeff is an easy guy to work with, genuine, and not afraid to get his hands dirty.  It's not unusual to see him working with his crew, working on the irrigation system, or picking up trash.  His associates are a pleasure to have around - some of the nicest guys I've ever had work at my home.  There are handful of companies I've worked with over the years who I've been willing to recommend to friends and neighbors, and Landscape and Beyond is definitely one of those companies. Landscape and Beyond is the perfect name for this business. Jeff and crew go above and beyond for their clients and we couldn't be happier with the great job they did. We hired them to lay sod in our yard, but they provided much more than that. Jeff was very professional and knowledgeable and offered great advice and ideas for our space. In fact, he saved us a lot of money. What truly impressed me was how accommodating he was to our deadline. We had Landscape and Beyond scheduled for a Thursday to install the sod, but after Jeff learned that we were having a large quantity of wood chips delivered on the Friday, which my husband and I were going to install ourselves, Jeff rescheduled our sod installation to coincide with our wood chip delivery and had his crew help distribute all the wood chips. What would certainly have taken my husband and I several hours, these guys finished in one hour. How awesome is that!  Excellent quality, great price, professional hard working team; what more could you ask for. When looking for a landscaper to landscape our (small) backyard in San Elijo Hills, I contacted four different companies. One didn't return my call, the second wouldn't do any jobs less than $10,000, the third sent me an estimate weeks after contacting them and the fourth was Jeff at Landscape and Beyond . He returned my initial phone call right away and got an estimate to me the very next day. He was very familiar with the approval process of the HOA so we felt comfortable proceeding with Landscape and Beyond. He drew up plans and submitted them directly to our property management company. Once we received approval, they started the job three days later. The job consisted of breaking up and clearing out rock, leveling the site, bringing in topsoil, installing a sprinkler system, laying sod and installing a river rock border around the edge of the yard. Jeff brought his crew over on a Friday morning around 7 and they were completely done by 3! Also, the total ended up being $500 less than the estimate. He came back a few times to make sure the sprinklers are are set right and to mow the lawn the first time (which was Thanksgiving morning!). We had a terrific experience with Jeff and his crew and we would recommend them to anyone. They are priced fairly, work quickly and communicate well. More...

I would definitely recommend Landscape and Beyond.We have a half acre our yard needed a total makeover.  Jeff and his crew did a awesome job. Jeff would let me know daily what the crew would be doing the next day. The job was completed mid August I still stay in contact with Jeff, I want to add boulders in our yard or little things I need to ask him about the yard and he does call right back. Absolutely beautiful work, but patience required.We had absolutely nothing in our backyard. Our work included patio, sidewalk, fire pit, sod, pee gravel, retaining wall and a few plants to spruce it up. From the beginning, he was very prompt in meeting with us and gave us a quote within a couple days. It was reasonable, so we pushed forward.This was a pretty large project for us at ~$25K and in the end, I think it was worth it. A positive about choosing Jeff is that he had called frequently in the evenings to discuss how things look.  I've received many compliments on my backyard and am happy with the way it turned out. It's not everyday where you see the owner shedding his share of sweat alongside his crew. The guy is a super hard worker with many customers and can negotiate to your satisfaction.A couple of hiccups along the way to note and why I rate 4/5. Originally he quoted us at two weeks for completion and it went into ~six+ weeks. Not a huge deal for us, but may be for the overly anxious customers. I also wanted to have the fire pit done prior to my son's 2nd birthday party to show off our new house and new back yard. That wasn't done, but he did compensate with some palm tree staking to make up. Timelines for completion to support our planning purposes weren't ever really clear to me, especially when asked. I never knew who was coming or going most of the time, but all you need is faith, I suppose. I also asked for a quote to seal in the concrete once we were done and I'm still waiting .. however, I decided to do it myself, so he essentially saved me money. :)If I could post a picture, I would, as the transformation was night and day for us. We had a yard that was in dire need of a total overhaul.  It took me a while to pick the right landscaper as many of my friends have had bad experiences.  Carlsbad has quite a few options but I felt most comfortable with Landscape and Beyond.Jeff was fantastic from beginning to end.  He was very patient with my questions and concerns.  He listened and offered many different solutions that still stayed within our budget.  He was always in contact and came 3x to ensure that it would be perfect before the work was even started.  In addition, his crew was prompt, polite, and clean.  The job they did was thorough and incredibly professional. We recently moved into a place on half an acre and definitely wanted to make some changes, though we couldn't do it all at once. I was looking for someone to come in and do a fairly significant amount of hardscape work. After a not-so-good experience with a different landscaper who came highly recommended on Yelp, working with Jeff was so refreshing. He's extremely responsive, always quick to come on over if you need to show him something/ask questions, and his team are the most professional and hard-working I have ever met. He's willing to work with your ideas and willing to come up with ideas if you don't have any ;-) He's also cost-conscious and always looks to save you money wherever he can. The crew were at our place by 7 AM each day, always neat and quiet, very friendly, and focused on doing great work. When they ran into some unanticipated issues, the schedule slipped a little bit and it didn't look like they'd be done within the week... well guess what, two guys came out at 8 AM on Saturday and took their time finishing up but making sure it looked amazing. After all was said and done, Jeff came by himself to make sure all the sprinklers were working properly since they had to be tinkered with quite a bit during the process. I needed an irrigation and lighting system designed and installed in my fairly large front yard and for some fruit trees in my grove. I called Jeff at Landscape and Beyond around January and he promptly showed up for an estimate. I had gotten numerous estimates at that point and I was skeptical because so many people in this industry seem to be really flakey, but Jeff made me feel comfortable and his price was highly competitive. Unfortunately, he was booked up with other jobs for a while (I guess that's a good sign, right?) so it took some patience to get him on the job at my house - but the wait was worth it. Jeff and his team at Landscape and Beyond came over and did a fantastic job. They were total professionals and did everything with high standards. They well exceeded my expectations and installed a perfect fully automated irrigation system and controller for my entire front yard and citrus/avocado grove. He installed wiring for all my future landscape lighting needs as well. During the installation I asked for a few minor changes and even asked for his team to dig a bunch of holes and help plant some palm trees and privacy shrubs. They really did an amazing job. Jeff even came back a day later to do a couple minor tweaks to the system at no extra charge. We decided to get both our front yard and back yard done (including sprinkler installation) so we met with three other landscapers - two of whom doubled our budget and one who never got back to us.  I'm big on punctuality so when we first met with Jeff, I liked that he was on time.  We decided to go with his company because he seemed very likeable and knowledgeable and also because he gave us the lowest estimate (this in no way equated to subpar work).  What we liked about his company: * He would give us updates via email on when they would be working.  * The project was shorter then we expected - about 2 weeks.* He and his men would always make sure the job site was tidy at the end of the day.* Jeff would come by at the end of the workday and walk the job site to make sure everything was done right.Jeff and his men exceeded our expectations.  Our yard looks beautiful.  We've gotten a lot of compliments already.  I would highly recommend Landscape and Beyond. So I don't often write reviews, and when I do, I don't often give 5 stars.  Go ahead, check my other reviews.  Landscape and Beyond however deserves it.  We met with almost 7 landscapers to get bids, but once we met Jeff (owner) we knew we found the one.  He stood apart from the crowd, he is so genuine and honest and really takes the time to listen.  There is no high pressure sales pitch unlike most other guys.  We hired his crew landscape our entire backyard and couldn't be happier with the results.  Jeff of Landscape and Beyond goes ABOVE and Beyond.Price: Very reasonable, Jeff doesn't nickel and dime you.Design: Jeff gave creative and helpful suggestions.  We drew out a design on paper and Jeff and his crew turned it into reality.  He even uses some neat software to create a virtual example of the project.  No other contractor did this. Awesome job. Quality:  Solid.  What else can I say?  Communication:  VERY responsive whether it be by text, email, or phone call.  Jeff replies quickly.  He even gives daily updates by phone/email and what the next day will entail.  Communication is critical and Jeff rates tops in this department.   Speed:  Unlike our neighbors whose landscape projects dragged out for months, Jeff and his crew finished fast and took how long he said it would.  Do not mistake speed for lack of quality.  These guys work hard and are good at what they do.Reliability:  Tops.  Jeff the owner often works at the job when the project is being done so that quality is ensured.What else more can you ask for?  I would not hesitate to hire this company again and have already referred to several friends and neighbors.  Yelp reviews did not disappoint. Jeff and his crew did an awesome job on our lawn.  We had some major remodeling/demoing to do and they completed it in record time. After tearing out the existing hardscape, they redid the sprinkler system and put down sod.  We are so excited about our new lawn!  Jeff had great communication with us, going above and beyond what I expected. Jeff and his crew were great! I first contacted Jeff through email after purchasing a buywithme deal for his company. He responded very quickly and despite being slammed with vouchers he was able to book an appointment within a week or so.  His guys were at my place for 40 minutes (3 men). They worked extremely fast and did a great job! The crew was friendly and answered some questions I had about laying sod in the future.  Jeff emailed me a few hours after service to follow up and see how his crew did, I really appreciated this!! Jeff and his crew are absolutely amazing.  Wonderful people, great personalities, very corteous and professional.  They work with lightening speed - they completed extensive yard work for me today in less than 40 minutes.  I have never met anyone more friendly and hardworking.  I am definitely going to hire Jeff and his crew for regular maintenance.By the way, one of the complaints on Yelp was that Jeff didn't respond to the reviewer's phone calls.  The only reason this may have happened is because a huge number of people purchased Groupons for Jeff's services.  The crew is completely slammed with phone calls and work requests.  Be patient and try emailing or calling back.  He will respond!  And trust me, the wait is well worth it!!  You will be blown away by the quality of their work.
