Surprisingly Disappointing!

We were prepared to write a “glowing” review about our moving experience with this company. Unfortunately, this review will be quite the opposite. We were fine with the workers arriving a bit late, and we appreciated them calling ahead, to advise of such. We were advised that 3 workers would be doing the work; only 2 showed. Still, this was ok. Eventually, the 3rd worker showed up. We had planned for an outside company to dismount and then remount our TVs; however, the worker(s) never showed up. We then asked the moving company if they could perform the mounting service. They stated that they could, and in fact, this was normally part of the service the offered. We scheduled this service for the following day. The workers quoted us a very reasonable price, and talked about the professional and high quality job that they perform when handling TVs mounting. They would measure and ensure the job was done right, which made us feel great about using their service.

Although our new home was 5 minutes from our old address, the job took a lot longer than we expected (9 hours). They had to handle our washer/dryer, refrigerator, and put up 2 beds, but we ended up paying over double than what was expected ($1,225 + $75 gratuity). We were advised that the company would take care of our 4 TVs, for free. Wonderful right? Somewhere along the way, a small piece to our baby’s crib was lost. We were told by one of the workers, as well as another employee over the phone, that they would make a concerted effort to locate that piece when they returned to take care of our TVs the next day. If they couldn’t locate the piece, they would visit the Home Depot. If the piece couldn’t be found, then they would consult the manufacturer, and install the piece for free. Because our baby would still be able to sleep in his crib, we would have been fine with a discount only, especially since we were paying so much for their service, but we were fine (and impressed) with what we were told.

Here is where things became very frustrating for us, and changed the tone of this review: 2 of the workers were supposed to arrive to our home to take care of the TVs, between 1-3pm the following day. They did not show, nor did they call to provide us with a status update. Remember, they called us the day before to advise they were running late. Then again, THIS job was “free”; they were being paid for the original move. We called, and got a voicemail. Some time later, 2 kids (VERY young boys) showed up at our home (not the 2 workers that we were expecting). They took the TVs down, and mounted them at the new house, but here is what I found out from these 2 boys specifically:

1. They had JUST been notified about the job, when they showed up at our home. Someone obviously called them to take care of this job last minute.
2. They had only mounted and dismounted TVs, once or twice before, but they “knew” how to do it.
3. The “quality drill” I heard 1 of the workers talking about that would be used, was a Walmart drill, that was literally smoking from its first use.
4. The 2 kids were discussing how to perform the job (i.e. - should they approach the mount from the side). I overheard them talking as they stared at 1 of the TVs
5. One of the TVs was clearly not level. I asked them about it, and they said it was level. They had already drilled part of the mount to the wall, so I left it alone. After all, they were providing this service for “free”.

As you can imagine, we felt that we were fed a bunch of “you know what”. Again, we didn’t ask for the TVs to be installed and uninstalled for free. We rather had paid the amount they quoted us, if it meant that we were going to get the quality service that we were promised. We clearly feel that we got what we paid for, meaning since we received a “free” service, we got “free” quality work. Again, we would have been ok with a simple discount. We did not ask them to commit to doing so much work, in terms of locating a little piece of equipment that they probably weren’t going to find anyway. The day after the TVs were installed, we contacted this company to see what they were going to do about the missing crib piece. No one answered as expected. It’s one week later, so we’re taking time to right this review. The workers were friendly, and talked about their customer service focus, and concern for great reviews. This is why we are “surprisingly disappointed”, as we didn’t expect to be treated in this manner. They told us what they felt we wanted or needed to hear, got their money, and then they turned their back on us. Despite the tremendous amount of money we paid, we were going to contact them soon, when we moved back to Florida. That obviously will never happen now.

We certainly don’t have an ax to grind or anything, and don’t typically write reviews, but this experience warranted it. We were very tolerant of the time it took for our move, the timeliness of the arrivals, the lost equipment piece, and the price total, but we have no tolerance for being fed a bunch of untruths, not provided with the service that we expected for our VERY hard-earned money, and for being ignored. This is just not acceptable, and no customer(s) should ever have this type of experience. Any company that allegedly has a huge focus on customer service, and cares so much for getting great reviews, should stand by what they say, and not make empty promises. Really enjoyed moving with these guys. Used good communication, packed things well, and worked the entire time they were there. If anything I wish I would have hired one more man as not to over work the guys. All in all one of the most professional moving companies I've used. More...

Great experience, and it's a small, local business, which I'm always glad to support.The owner was able to accommodate us on short notice (same day), which helped us a ton as it was a slightly urgent matter. The movers themselves, Kevin and Justin, were courteous, polite, and funny to boot! InstaMove is Amazing! i have moved several times with moving companies and this by far was the best experience i have had and under the most difficult situation! Nate and his team were amazing! When a different moving company failed to show on moving day, InstaMove showed up within a few hours of me calling them! With such a short notice move i expected high rates but Nate and InstaMove did the job faster and cheaper than the previous company had quoted me. Great moving company! We just had a few pieces of office furniture we needed moved to our new location. They were able to book us for the very next day. Thank you, InstaMove, for the move from my 1 bedroom cottage into storage.  I love the 3 men you sent for my move.  They were very kind, trustworthy, and communicated very well together.  I thank them for wrapping my precious antiques thoroughly and keeping one special and delicate box with antique lamp globes under watch and care. Once we arrived at storage, it was dark.  We worked as quickly as possible using one of the guy's cell phones to light our way, and we worked hard at organizing things the way they should have been to serve my future needs.  Also, thank you, Nate, for taking care of me so well in a very high anxiety time fleeing from the dangerous environment of the cottage to safety.  I appreciate that you and your crew were there for me!  May God bless you and your future growth! Katy and Nate from InstaMove have been great to work with! They helped us move our office from and stored all of our supplies while we were in between offices. All that we had to do was pack up our personal desks, and they handled the rest.Then when we got to the temporary office space, we hated the chairs that were provided so we reached out to them again and they delivered our previous chairs directly to the new office and even moved them all inside for us.Our office still plans to move again soon so I'm sure we'll be reaching out to them again. Instamove is amazing and very flexible. I had to move out of my old house one day and the new one the next day and they held my furniture for me at no cost. They were extremely professional and efficient. Hopefully I never have to move again, but if I do, you can bet I will use these guys.
