What do you love most about your job?
I absolutely love being an advocate for you. I see all sorts of people and find their lives a curious mix of humanness which is always stimulating.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I used to work in the medical profession and saw that I was treating things after-the-fact. I realized that physical health began with mental health, and saw I would be of greater service working with the mind. For awhile, I worked in computer customer support (IBM), but felt I needed more connection with people so I put myself through CU-Boulder and obtained my undergraduate degree in 2004 (psychology major), then went on to graduate school and earned my doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD) in 2010. In 2017, I finally became licensed as a professional counselor.
Why should our clients choose you?
Clients should choose me because I am a mature woman with a lifetime of experiences. I listen well and put you first. I am fundamentally grounded, calm, and mentally fit, myself.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I only see people face-to-face. Please move on if you want virtual sessions.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I keep my office clean. Clorox wipes do the trick.
What I do and insurances I take
Hi, I am your potential therapist and evaluator. Most people call me Dr. Joy - I can administer a MBTI, or a personality test, check out your cognition, or do traditional therapy. I only work with adult individuals. I take United Health (Optum), Anthem, Cigna, Aetna, and Beacon/Kaiser insurances. I also have Sunday hours. I have 13-years' experience and specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which helps a great deal with depression/anxiety symptoms.
