Excellent Person and Trainer. We were confused and was having no idea when we bought our Doberman puppy. We were so sad seeing my puppy nipping and biting my young kids. Couldn’t even bring my dog inside before because he was so unhinged. He made tremendous progress and is behaving very well after his training session.

I was concerned at first with leaving my dog but Risa came highly recommended and after our initial phone call, I had no reservations.

I left my pitty with Risa for 3 weeks and the progress was phenomenal. She's still the same fun dog but I'm able to enjoy my time with her a lot more on walks and around others. Everything we discussed was corrected and Risa gave me clear concise instructions when I picked her up. She kept me updated via text throughout the training period which I very much appreciated.

If I could put more than 5 stars, I wouldn’t hesitate. From my very first phone conversation with Risa, I knew I was investing in my boy with the perfect person!
She told me that I would have a Hooch 2.0 when I picked him up, and she wasn’t lying. After 3 weeks, I couldn’t believe it was the same dog that I dropped off! He listens just after one command, no more chaos and overall just an obedient dog now. You could tell that he really loved Risa and that warmed my heart more than anything! She truly loves what she does and it shows so quickly after meeting her.

My only wish is that I would have taken Athena to Risa first. I tried another place, finished the class and thought all was good until my girl wanted to follow some stray dogs. She got out and we don’t have a fence in our back yard and we back up to a wooded area. She would not listen to any of my commands and my only way I could get her back is to chase after the pack and capture the “other” dogs. That was my last straw. I took her to Excel K9 within a week. Risa has forever changed our lives for the better. Now we play in our backyard and at our huge ranch with no fences with no leash and we feel such a sense of security knowing she will not run off. Risa will take care for you dog as if they are her own. She loves them all. But they will learn who is dominant

Risa is AMAZING! I adopted my first dog, Vivian, from a shelter. She was 6lbs and was very dominant and somewhat aggressive. I was told by my veterinarian to find a trainer but trainers for her were running $1500+. Risa is affordable and is AWESOME! I was initially so nervous and anxious of trusting someone with my new dog but she reassured me! She sent me text updates and pictures and provided all the information to continue the training after the 2 weeks! I definitely got my money worth and Vivian trusts dogs and people now! Risa changed my life! My dog has never behaved this well. I took my 4 year old girl for training, she was very reactive to other dogs and people. We went for an initial meeting and the facility is very nice and Risa answered ALL our questions! Buster is all set to Start his training.

Risa has changed my dog and my life. My shelter dog Daisy had lots of issues getting along with other dogs and is so sweet to me but can be stubborn and sassy. I live in an apartment complex and walking Daisy was a nightmare. Risa socialized Daisy with her personal dogs and kept me updated throughout the process. Risa also offered to keep Daisy for an extra 5 days free of charge because Daisy took a little longer to get comfortable. Risa absolutely made sure Daisy was comfortable in order to have training success, that is something I truly admire. I also had problems maintaining Daisy's weight, Risa recommended XDog food and within 2 WEEKS Daisy has put on so much weight, her coat is shiny and soft and she looks so healthy. The food issue was not something I brought to Risa's attention initially, nevertheless, she addressed that issue right away and now my dog is healthier- not just mentally but also physically. Daisy is much more relaxed around dogs, and my anxiety when walking her has almost completely faded and it has not even been a full 24 hours since picking her up. Risa truly knows how to connect with dogs and dedicates her life to her craft and it ABSOLUTELY shows. She will guide you and teach you how to communicate with your furbaby for success. Thanks Risa for taking care of my best friend Max again for the past two weeks! His compliance with commands and relaxation in social settings has improved drastically, From my son bringing over 6 rowdy friends, to an unannounced repairman early yesterday morning, and strolling around down town, he finally has "gotten" it and i'm nothing short of impressed. He has been a dream since we picked him up last week, now I have the confidence to take him out in the world and not worry about him getting all jazzed up and over-anxious. It speaks volumes for the time and personal dedication you devote to getting to know each dog and figuring out what makes them "click". My plan is to keep bringing him in annually for the 2 week sessions, he just keep getting better and better with your experience and training. Risa is such a great dog trainer! We brought our bulldog pup to her for training. He needed some basic skill training as well as we wanted to make sure he was receptive to redirection even when he "wasn't getting his way". He had a few retaliatory reactions that we wanted to take care of (sometimes he just wanted things his way only). We have 2 kids and wanted to have a fun but safe environment for everyone. Risa helped our pup with all of his skills, including place, come, down, heel, and leave it. She also made sure he knew "no" meant no, with no more puppy "back talk"! We adopted a 1-1/2 year old Labrador (Ty) that was already set in his ways. Ty went through two or three crates, ran away outside, didn't listen and needless to say my wife started asking for recommendations on training. Ty stayed with Risa for three weeks and I was and still am amazed by the transformation (like dog whispering magic). I now take Ty everywhere with me and I get constant compliments on how obedient he is and basically listens to me like he speaks English. We took our out of control puppy to Risa and she trained her so well and worked with us to keep up the training. After the success with our puppy we brought our older dog, who had some really bad habits, and she was able to work with his leash aggression and car anxiety and make him more manageable. I highly recommend taking your new or older pup to Risa. She takes great care of them and makes them more confident and happy dogs! More...

I have a Four month mini aussie (as of today). I took him in when he was 3 months old and he barely even knew “sit”. But now, he is off-leash trained, able to understand “no” very clearly, and much more. I went on a 3 block walk (OFF-LEASH) this morning with him in the city of Houston, with cars passing, and construction workers.....he stayed right next to me except to run ahead into the grass or to sniff something in a bush. When a stranger walked by he was cautious of them and left them alone. When he was curious of someone that didn’t want to be bothered, I said “leave it” and he left them alone and ran back to me. He no longer jumps (except during play time) on people or furniture (except on a couch when I ask him to jump up). He is the best dog a girl could ask for & he was only there for 3 weeks. Not only was the training amazing, but the trust I have for Risa (the trainer) raises the bar for every dog-trainer out there. I can’t recommend this enough....if you have second thoughts on training here, don’t. This is the best place in Texas, maybe even America! More...

I sent my 3 1/2 month old malinois JJ, to get trained up with Excel K9 Texas recently. When I picked JJ up I was amazed at how well behaved he was. His listening, compliance, and overall behavior made a incredible improvement. I now have a 4 month old malinois puppy that behaves and carries himself like a well trained older dog, but wasn't stripped of his puppyhood. We are all extremely happy.
