What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Patience.
Portraiture requires waiting for those tiny spaces when people let their guard down and stop overthinking their presentation, that’s where I try to find my subject.
Landscapes require a tremendous amount of waiting for light and clouds and everything to line up just right, and even then you may have to accept that nothing may have come from the day.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I immediately want to know what personalities I am working with so we can start working on our shooting environment. I prefer to work with clients in a comfortable place so I catch them in their own time and space.
What do you love most about your job?
Photography is a near perfect mix of art and science, where thinking and emoting blur and technical understanding compliments creativity. I enjoy meeting new people and identifying the best way to capture them.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have long enjoyed taking pictures, but was encouraged to get my work out into the public sphere. Having a photography business also gives me an opportunity to take more pictures!
Why should our clients choose you?
I seek to make each session not only the best I can do for the client, but the best I can do period. I am passionate about photography and bring new ideas to each session to try out. Most importantly I don’t bring a formulaic approach to my sessions, rather I try to meet the client where they are in life and bring out their best. This means a client’s photos are as unique as they are. I’ve done everything from ski races to album covers, the more interesting the better!
