Emerald City Sound truly set the tone of the evening. They made our wedding transform from a reception to a party. Everyone was dancing, and I mean EVERYONE. Where to start We actually found Matt (Emerald City Sound) on wedding wire and we are so lucky!! He was so amazing to work with! ! Music was definitely an area I was a little stressed in (bride issues), but Matt quickly put me at ease. He was always quick to communicate and asked questions that I hadn’t even thought of. He sent us an excel sheet to get our specific ceremony songs in and list any other input that made our night unique to us. I especially thought it was genius to have a “do not play list”! So funny, and we did put some songs on that list. We met up prior to the wedding just to sit down briefly and make sure we were all on the same page. We got to hear how he made our bride/groom first dance flow so well (and the demo gave us a chance to practice a little dance we put together!) During our ceremony, we had two singers come up for one song and Matt did a great job at having everything set up for them and being super flexible with that. There are so many great things I could say but my two biggest take aways...1) the music was wonderful and flowed so smoothly [the ceremony songs and the dance music]. We had many people commenting to us on how much they enjoyed the music, 2) Matt was an absolute joy to work with and the experience was so fun!! Matt was so easy to work with and made our event really special! He did a great job incorporating mixing our requests with what he knows will work to get the party started. He's a no-ego MC with the right amount of energy to get guests to listen and stay organized, but he doesn't make it about himself and keeps the focus on the couple. Working with Matt was absolutely amazing! We had some very specific music that we needed played for part of our family (cumbias), and Matt was able to find a way to include all of it without feeling like the party was slowing down. He was so easy to work with, and met us ahead of time to get a sense of our style and musical interests. We were looking for a DJ that 1) would be able to help us with projecting and recording the audio of our outdoor ceremony, 2) would act as a pseudo-emcee (although we didn't really have much of a program planned) and 3) would keep people on the dance floor.
We felt like Matt did a great job ticking off these boxes. He was very responsive (we had to connect him with our videographer and our ceremony musician), accommodating and easy going.
There were some small details that could have been or have gone better (we didn't quite get the people giving speeches introduced, etc.), but none that made us unhappy. We were so so so happy to have Matt as our DJ for our wedding!! Everything was executed perfectly, from the ceremony music, to the cocktail hour, to the dancing, the music was exactly how I had envisioned it would be. We just told Matt the type of music we liked and he took it from there. He provided the officiant with a lapel mic, took care of a wireless mic for speeches, made announcements (like when we entered the reception and cut the cake), and even took a couple of karaoke requests! Before our wedding I was a little nervous we wouldn't really be a dancing crowd, but I was so happy with how many people we got up in the dance floor -- even my 80 year old grandma was up for most of the night too!! Matt at Emerald city sound was amazing and professional from the get go. We did have a little more experience with him because he DJ’d my older sisters wedding a year before ours. He was so great to work with, it was slightly long distance and he worked with us over email for the majority of it. His spread sheets made everything so easy, and his communication was fast and effective. We only met with him once before the wedding over in Seattle. His ideas were helpful and you could tell he had a great passion for what he was doing. He made us feel comfortable immediately, my husband and I are extremely happy with our decision to go with Emerald City Sound, our wedding was absolutely what we wanted, and huge part of it was the ambiance that Matt created for us! It was perfect. His timing with our must play songs was also impeccable.

Matt was amazing! We were looking for a DJ who could understand the theme we wanted without us building a playlist and then just run the wedding, and he did just that! We had timelines that had to change and Matt handled them so expertly my bride didn’t notice until I told her the next day! The price was amazing for the seattle area and Matt is extremely friendly. I don't know where to begin... but I know it all ended with a perfect wedding largely because the best DJ imaginable, Matt. From the get go, Matt was incredibly professional and timely in responding to our endless stream of questions about his packages and services. Leading up to our wedding Matt was communicative and took away so much stress that my wife and I were feeling from planning our wedding by ourselves. Come the day of the wedding Matt handled curveballs from the venue, my partner and I, and our guests with zen-like ease. The music was killer, his lights were energizing, and his presence made our wedding that much more memorable. He even took photos and videos of exciting parts of the night! At the end of it all he made us a usb drive containing all the songs he played during our wedding so we could relive our special day for years to come. Matt was WONDERFUL to work with! We met with him briefly the summer before our December wedding and discussed our music preferences, and then filled out his spreadsheet with the specific songs we wanted to hear. I didn't have very many specific songs outside of the ceremony and first dance selections, so I felt like the spreadsheet was a little bare. I wasn't sure if he'd be able to glean out our music tastes. I was also a little concerned that our family wasn't the dancing type. All my worries completely evaporated during the wedding. We had every single person dancing, the entire night. Even relatives that I would have bet you money wouldn't dance, danced! It was awesome! We ended up having to force people to stop dancing when the evening was done and we needed to tear down our venue. We loved working with Matt! My husband and I hired Matt to DJ our wedding last month. From the first time we met with him we knew we wanted to have him at our wedding. He has a very laid back but fun and professional approach. We knew that we would be in good hands and that Matt would be able to personalize our wedding just the way we wanted and help us throw an awesome party! From the planning stages he gave us a shared drive so we could submit our song requests for each part of the wedding (pre- ceremony, cocktail hour, dancing, etc) which helped see the flow of the wedding before it happened and keep things organized. Matt was super communicative, kind, calm and very organized. His experience and questions asked prior to the wedding helped us coordinate a beautiful play list. He provided suggestions, listened to our requests and attended the rehearsal to ensure everything went down accordingly. He was a great MC, super positive and followed our timeline. And of course, best of all, the music was amazing! He played our requested songs, and threw in some of his own that matched our genre. During the dining part of the wedding, he saved my more low key tunes and created a very nice dining ambience, and as soon as it was time for dancing the music was non stop hits. I know so many people say "oh, I had the best DJ ever"... but I don't think I can express enough that Matt is the best DJ ever. He worked with me while I was out of state prior to my wedding, and even made time to meet with me when I flew into Seattle a month prior to the wedding so we could meet and go over some questions. Through the whole process, he was communicative, available, and flexible with what I wanted for my big day. Day of... he was perfect. He talked to me the whole time about what I wanted, if I wanted anything to be changed, if I wanted things adjusted due to getting off schedule (because weddings will never flow perfectly). If you need a DJ, you should hire Emerald City Sound. Matt was INCREDIBLE. During the time that we worked together, Matt was very responsive and kind. He was willing to speak on the phone with me, and to meet with me in the months leading up to our wedding to discuss some of my thoughts (and at times anxieties) about the music at the wedding. Matt always reassured me and made me confident that the music would be great, and I would have the event that I wanted. He was also incredibly respectful of meeting our wishes and expectations. I was very concerned about the music at our wedding, and I my only wanted to hear the music that was important to my husband and I. From the day we met Matt, to the week after the wedding when everyone was reminiscing about how awesome the dancing was, we knew we made a great choice in hiring Emerald City Sound! For people who like music, Matt is the perfect DJ. We chatted about music we are into, gave him a list of bands to play during the cocktail hour and dinner, and then a few top songs that were must plays for the dance party (along with a list of do not plays). We could have been much more detailed if we wanted, but we trusted that Matt had a good sense of what vibes we were looking for, and that he is an expert who can make it happen. And he sure did. We were really happy with Matt! When we initially met him, we both felt that he understood what we wanted and the type of music we wanted to stay far away from. We felt that on the actual wedding day, he played a really balanced combination of music that a span of generations could appreciate. I just wanted to take a moment to praise Matt and all his hard work on our wedding day and during the planning. His MC and DJ services were amazing & professional. He was so easy & fun to work with. Our planned ceremony songs & the transitioning were on point, and the music selection he had was very tasteful. He did such an amazing job, it was definitely a day we will not forget.

There was a part during our reception that i thought was awesome and very considerate of him. I was about 5 months pregnant during our wedding, so we wanted to incorporate a surprise gender reveal during our cake cutting. At the cake cutting he was right there, front and center. My husband was like "How did the DJ know it was a boy?" I had to tell him that Matt was literally in the front row, on the floor, mic in hand - ready to announce our surprise! :) I thought Matt went above and beyond - and we greatly appreciated it!

Last year, I was given the task of planning my company holiday party. When it came time to figure out the entertainment, I was overwhelmed by how many DJs there are in Seattle! I didn't know where to begin. A colleague of mine raved about Emerald City Sound. This guy was excellent! Everyone of our guests was out on the dance floor having a fantastic time. I am a musician so I was fairly particular about the music I wanted to be played. Matt effortlessly worked with us to play what we wanted to hear, but also incorporated songs that were accessible to all generations.
