We just finished the Step Up Pup class at Down Dog with our new puppy (was 4 months at the time). It really helped us get an understanding for training basics and learning the behaviors of our dog. This is the only place you want to be to have a positive successful learning experience for you and your dog. After several horrible experiences with other trainers using pinch collars, choke collars and vinegar spray I reached out to Kish. My puppy changed from an unruly, aggressive, in your face barking baby shark to an attentive, happy, eager, responsive loving fur baby after just a few days. Kish uses evidence based practices that are humane and work. She addresses the issues that are unique to you and your dog. She has given us written and video resources to hone our skills. We were able to learn how to motivate our adopted adult dog to learn new commands and helped our other adult dog learn some great skills. Our small dog has some reactive leash behaviors and has been very fearful of kids and some adults. He also would run away when not leashed and had bad anxiety. Now we have learned how to control and stop his reactivity, he can be happily off leash at our cabin with good recall, and actually enjoyed playing with kids when they used his commands to play fetch. This summer is like night and day from last summer (before our sessions with Kish)! We are incredibly thankful and recommend her to anyone! More...

I just completed the puppy preschool class with my 12 week old French Bulldog, Larry, and I HIGHLY recommend this program for all new puppy owners. I have had dogs my whole life, but there was so much I learned from Kish, and taking this class that I had never known! The puppy preschool offers so many fundamentals (for both the dog and the owner!) that give a good basis to build on, and I found that even just having the weekly socialization aspect for a puppy is VERY beneficial!! Down dog has been such a great experience for me and my pit bull, Molly. She is a really smart girl but she needed to work on her manners with guests and she is reactive to other dogs. Kish has been so good at working with her and being patient with her. She doesn't use the prong collar, which I was happy about, and uses positive reinforcement to train. She also understands the breed which is important to me. We started with group class and then went to in home when she got kennel cough and couldn't be in the group setting. I am a student and I work and she has been great about scheduling and very easy to work with. Kish also has a plethora of references and videos that I can watch with my boyfriend so he knows what we are working on as well and can help train. We are still in the process of working with Molly, but I feel like I have been set up to have success with her training and that I am well equipped to work with her on her issues. Kish has been a great trainer and I can't say enough how thankful we are to have her help and expertise. I highly recommend her for even the most difficult dogs. First time dog owner, was always told shock collar, choke chain, prong collar. This is a place where they throw all those out the door and teach the right way.
