Pup type: miniature schnauzer puppyProblem: Make sure and write down everything specific about the haircut you would like before going in. The young woman who took notes wasn't clear and they cut her top by half the original length instead of one size up above clipper. They also chopped her beautiful eye lashes off instead of her eye brows. They also tried to charge for "matting" without talking to me about it. When engaged, the lady at the desk told me that "they wouldn't write it down if it wasn't". While she did need to be brushed, she didn't have any large bunches. She did need to be brushed though. I thought that's what she was going for so I didn't do it prior to her going in. The rep who came over to handle the discussion, ended up being the owner, initially was a bit defensive instead of working with me but did chill after we got to talking. I'm giving them a 3 out of 5 as the haircut itself was done perfectly to what she was told to do by the front counter clerk. Didn't stop me from leaving an adequate tip. Another note, four hours is a long time (+30 with the discussion and re-trim of the top). Not a biggie but she was probably in the crate for a significant amount of time. A good note, they got her in the same week as called. This is way better than the four weeks for bark slope. I also think they did a better job on the cut itself. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE! You will get a double whammy of bad service and bad customer care. We had a terrible experience at HomeDoggy. We took our puppy to get a trim around her eyes. Instead, HomeDoggy drastically cut back all the hair on her face and a bunch on the top of the head. She now looks completely bizarre and awful. I made two calls to complain. In my first call, we were blamed for not communicating better what we wanted. Martha couldn't even be bothered to get my name. I had to insist she take down my name for the manager. Then, the manager Rodrigo calls me back and tells me I misunderstood Martha. When I explained why I was unhappy with this cut, he said, "Well, we now know better what you would want for the next time." That's it. I asked for a partial refund, and would have been happy with even $10 back. He told me that there was no way he was going to do that.I asked why I should give him more business if this is how uninterested he was in making me feel better about my puppy looking like a rat. I left my dog there for a half day of daycare. Â When I brought her home, she had noticeable bite marks and missing fur. I called and was told there was an aggressive dog with long nails there. I was not given an apology, nor was I told she was attacked when I picked her up. Do not leave your dog here unless you want to risk it getting attacked because no one is watching the dogs. More...

The 1st time I went here, 2 months ago they charged me $16 for a cat trim, which is about average. Today, they charged me $27! Almost double. I asked them why! My wife and I were thrilled when HomeDoggy opened up near us at their new location on 7th Avenue. We have a Bichon Frise and a long-haired Maine Coon cat that both require regular grooming. They both LOVE HomeDoggy. The cat is always very happy and relaxed after coming home from his grooming appointments. And our dog loves the shop. Whenever we're walking in the neighborhood, he stops outside HomeDoggy as if he's expecting to go in and see all his friends! More...

We love homedoggy! We've been taking our puppy here for daycare 2-3 days a week and he absolutely loves it. The staff are all really friendly, the space is clean, and he comes home happy and relaxed :) definitely recommend!

Rodrigo at homedoggy treated my dog like his own dog. Everyone there is extremely nice. The place is very clean and smells amazing. You would think a place that a dog is in all day smells like dog but it smelled very fresh. The space for the dogs is very spacious and my dog loves it. She also had grooming and when I picked her up she smelled and looked amazing. She looked happy and was friendly with everyone. I would recommend homedoggy. Today was my 14 year old, Lola's second visit to home doggy . She gets groomed every 4/5 weeks . Honestly the last 2 groomings have been the best. We've been very happy with the day care at HomeDoggy.  The location is  convenient, right in the heart of Park Slope, and the place is very clean.  Rodrigo is friendly and knew us and our dog after just one visit.  I wish they had outdoor space, but such is life in the big city.  I give them a lot of credit for opening a new business in the middle of a pandemic, and with our entire family working from home with an active rescue puppy, HomeDoggy has been a lifesaver.  It's so nice to drop her off to play with her friends and know she'll be well cared for. HomeDoggy was wonderful with my 2 pups! Haircuts came out even and exactly as we discussed. Â Their fur looked extra clean and white which makes me very very happy :) Â I was also happy with all of the staff because they were honest (and gave an accurate time frame for the appointments). Â The person at the front desk and Rodrigo made me feel like my babies were in good hands. Â I've been to many salons where they tell you an hour but it ends up taking 5 or they never call you to let you know your fur baby will be ready soon. Â Rodrigo and his staff made sure my 2 girls were taken right away, given a thorough grooming, and called me to give a heads up that they would be done soon. My dog Duncan is difficult. He hates being held, he bites (though he has almost no teeth), and he constantly wiggles free when you try and hold him. On top of that, he has various issues that require a gentle handling. For these reasons, I had to be very careful choosing somewhere to get him groomed. Being upfront about the challenges involved with grooming him online, Homedoggy was recommended to me.Incredible - he looks like a brand new dog! And I can tell by his behavior when he got home that while he was there they treated him gently and respectfully. Rodrigo, owner of Home Doggy, has been our Westie's groomer for the last 5+ years.  He does a beautiful cut - I found him after stopping another Westie owner on the street to ask where she got her dog groomed. Prior to finding Rodrigo, we had a few bad experiences with other groomers  where the dog was clearly unhappy when we picked her up.  Auggie absolutely loves Rodrigo and pulls on her leash to go into the storefront every time we pass by.  We also use Home Doggy for daycare on occasion.  The staff post daily videos on Instagram and it's obvious the dogs are well cared for and having a blast.  The daycare room is huge, well lit and spotless.  My review for Rod's previous business was also 5 stars.  Once again we give him two thumbs and four paws up. My Chow puppy loves to go to daycare there. He has been to other places but was hesitant to go in when I dropped him off. Here he bounces out of the car &charges towards their front door . I watch videos of him on Instagram and can see the fun he has.The only thing is that they can be hard to reach by phone sometimes and not always prompt with email responses. This needs improvement! I wish I could rate this place lower (and I don't give bad reviews). The first time I came in, the cut was fine but the groomer had sprayed so much fragrance on her I had to put her in the tub immediately (which while I have sensitivities to fragrances, this had never happened before after a groom). The second time - oof. I can't believe. I asked for my 14 year old shih tzu to have a short puppy cut - less than half of the hair she had. They didn't listen - at all. And she came back with barely a trim and totally uneven - especially her face. I said, hey, this isn't what I asked for, this is way too long. Can you do like half or this? And they asked for me to return the next morning - which I did, gladly - and still tipped them when I paid. I just picked her up and I have never seen a shih tzu or really any dog cut like this. Â When I tried to talk to the owner, he brushed me off and said I wanted it shorter, so it was on me. This is not halfway between what it was - this is a straight up buzz cut - even on her face. And it's winter. When I tried to talk to the owner about it - he was flippant - and within half a block of leaving I decided no, this is ridiculous. Many moons ago I worked as a groomer at my family's vet hospital/grooming assistant, this is just the worst cut I've ever seen - so I went back and tried to ask for a refund and he literally closed the door on me because another customer was there. Dude, I've seen that you don't leave the door open and you don't wear masks - no way I'm coming inside. Moral of the story - the owner is a grade A jerk, who said at first he wouldn't refund me, but then said he would - so I guess we'll see - and who also took revenge on me and my dog (in winter) when I asked for it to be shorter. I would never trash a business, especially a small one, but this - unacceptable. More...

We took our dog for his second grooming appointment at HomeDoggy today. They groomed his hair perfectly both times and you can tell he feels great after his grooming sessions (not to mention, he gets a lot of compliments! ). This is also the only grooming place that we can walk by and he doesn't try to run across the street the way he does when walking by other groomers or the vet. The team at HomeDoggy is very friendly and knowledgeable, clearly loves animals, listens to their customers, and does great work! I've recommended them to all of my friends that have dogs. Benji is my 2nd schnauzer, Â the 1st was a mini schnauzer that I raised from 8 day to 15yrs. He was from a family of award winning show dogs. Although we never showed him we went to an old German couple in ridgewood, who specialized in breeding and grooming mini schnauzers. Benji who is a 6yr old rescued mini schnauzer (found under a bench on bday and 206th st as a yrs old pup). He was very high strung and a mess grooming wise. No one could groom him properly until I was introduced to Rodrigo. Â Not only does he know how to stylishly groom him (a good schnauzer cut is hard to find), my pooch is relaxed when he is finished with him. Rodrigo is like a dog whisperer. He gets benji. I absolutely love all the people here and the level of care they give our furry loved ones! I used to bring my german shepherd to Rodrigo's other location for DIY dog washes for years, and am so happy to know about their new shop! The location is great and also right on the street, hourly street parking out front, and Martha at the desk is very knowledgeable and helps organize for any situation. We had a new medical foster doggie that we wanted to get washed & they were so good with him. It's full service so no more DIY washing, but they do an excellent job! And most importantly with love. We love Rodrigo and HomeDoggy. I met Rodrigo in the park  and then hired him as a dog walker to help leash train my husky puppy. I was so excited when he decided to expand his services. Rodrigo knows how to channel my husky puppy's energy better than anyone I've ever met. He introduced us to the best dog trainer, he treats Klaus like the athlete he is and has boarded him without issue.
