Ismael and his team did a great job for painting our house exterior. He has got a lot of experience/insight into this area. Which not only helped in making our house beautiful but protective as well. Ismael is very easy to work with (esp. when you are first time buyer and never gone through process of painting house ) and always ready to answer questions and provide recommendations/ideas. This review is long overdue. Ismael and his crew painted our house in 2015 and did a great job. We had multiple quotes and Capital was the cheapest with best reviews. We had our entire exterior of house painted a modern dark grey and some interior cabinets painted white as well. We are extremely pleased with the work- in particular the exterior. We did have a few other small projects which they admitted were not their specialty but they were happy to help with all the same (column repair, pressure washing exterior stone). I did have a few questions about the smaller projects and Ismael was on site for any concerns and made sure his team completed everything to our satisfaction. I appreciated that Ismael was so detailed, on site as needed, and really oversaw his crew carefully. Just when we were finishing up they hired a paint color specialist which would have been wonderful as well. Thank you Ismael! More...

I have contacted him several times and received a promise each time that he personally would come "take care of it". Ismael has never returned and has quit answering calls. After posting my first comments Ismael emailed and said he would like to come back and take care of the problems I had. Just wanted to offer another happy review for Ismael and Capital City Paint.  We asked Ismael to paint our house after getting three estimates.  His and another company's estimate were almost exactly the same, but we really liked our interaction with Ismael.  He was extremely helpful, answered lots of questions, and was quick to respond.  I especially appreciated his effort to help us find the right paint color (another guy told us that wasn't part of his job description).  We told him the tone we were seeking, but that we were having trouble finding the color.  He went to the paint store, found a couple of tones, painted the samples on our wall, and gave us a little time to make our choice.  The paint we chose was from a back catalog of colors - where we would not have thought to look.  We love it and are super happy that Ismael helped us in the process.  Apart from our choosing the color, he also made the process super fast from our first inquiry to final result (I think it was about a week from estimate to final result).  He came and did a final check and immediately arranged to fix a couple of tiny things that seemed a bit undone.  I would definitely hire Ismael again for this kind of work.  As a sidenote, we also reached out to Ismael for some renovation work in our laundry room - restoring some dry wall and creating some shelving.  We found his bid to be quite a bit more expensive, so we opted to go with another contractor.  Perhaps the exterior work is more competitively priced?  Not sure, but overall, we were very happy with Ismael's help getting our house painted.  It's been a couple of months, and I still love looking at the paint color.  I know a couple of neighbors reached out to him, too, when they saw the work the guys at Capital City Paint were doing on our house.  That's nice for him and nice for us, too.  Thanks, Ismael. I contacted Ishmael about a project on short notice, and he was able to accommodate us despite our tight schedule.  His crew painted the interior of our new home as well as helped us do the renovation work needed to prepare our old house for sale.  Not only was the work completed on time (ahead of schedule for our new house) but the quality of the work was sound.  Ishmael made great recommendations when it came to ideas for getting the most for our money on repairing our old home and the finished product exceeded my expectations.  I'll definitely use them again. They worked really hard even though it was very hot outside! They stripped the loose paint, caulked and sealed the edges, repaired damaged boards, painted with precision, installed new registers and vent covers, cleaned up paint mistakes from a previous paint job, then swept and cleaned up.There were no surprises and they met every expectation. Recently I thought I had hired a painter to repaint 2 rooms for us before we replaced the flooring. As it turns out that guy didn't show up. So on a Friday at 5:30 PM I am reading yelp reviews and making phone calls to see if I can find someone who can do this painting project sometime over the weekend. Ishmael returned my call and we spoke about the details for the work. His crew arrived early the next morning to begin prepping everything. They painted the ceiling, walls and trim in both rooms, completing the work the same day and doing a beautiful job. I was all set for the flooring crew at the beginning of the week and was thrilled that I could get this completed while everything was moved out for the flooring redo. Thanks guys! More...

I hired Capital City Paint and Restore to do a mini kitchen makeover, and I am really pleased with the result.  They scraped the popcorn off the kitchen ceiling and retextured, they sanded and painted my kitchen cabinets, painted new trim that had already been installed by another carpenter, and they painted my office, laundry and kitchen.  They also repaired some damage to the sheetrock and trim in my laundry room due to my dogs.  Ismael was very responsive and timely when quoting the work.  I thought his price was very fair, and his crew showed up exactly when I told him I was ready to begin the work.  I am a bit of a control freak so I did watch over the crew closely, and I bought all of my own paint which Ismael deducted from the final bill.  When reviewing the scope of work, Ismael came up with a perfect solution to our 1980s style kitchen ceiling in regards to lighting.  He brought in a licensed electrician for the job.  Again, I supplied the materials because I am picky (recessed LED lights) and they installed them.  When the job was complete, I did a thorough inspection with the crew there, and the guys did every touch up I asked them to.  The next day I found a few more spots and again they were back right away to make it just like I wanted.  Ismael was not present on the job site while the work was being done.  He came and did the initial quote and he came at the end to inspect.  I like that he is picky too.  He and I put stickies out as markers for where we wanted the crew to do the final touch ups.  For the price I paid, I couldn't be happier with the work.  I would use them again. Capital City did an outstanding job on an extensive restoration of our first floor. We suffered water damage from the October 2013 rains, with a number of foundation wood beams being effectively destroyed. We had been dreading getting this work done, convinced it would take many weeks to complete and would be expensive, disruptive, and messy. The Capital City team came in, replaced the bad wood; replaced and painted the drywall; matched, replaced, and painted molding. It was a big, complicated job, and the team had to work around large piles of stuff on the ground floor. They completed the job in under two weeks, at the original, very reasonable estimate, and even threw in a painting touch-up of a wall in the upper story. At the conclusion of the work the team did a thoroughgoing cleanup of both the inside and outside of the house, leaving it spotless. We literally could not be any happier with how the work turned out. The first floor now looks *better* than it did prior to the storm damage. I would not hesitate to highly recommend Capital City to anyone in need of interior painting and restoration work. More...

That was the fastest turnaround of all the companies I was working with for a bid. The price was also fair and beat out the others. The guys came in and completed each step of the job in half the time I expected. The quality of work was something I have not seen around here. Did I mention that I've worked with a lot of contractors?!They did popcorn scraping, painted 1400 square feet of a condo, painted the brick on my huge fireplace and mantel, repainted my pergola, installed hardwood flooring (glue down), and installed and painted baseboards. First rate experience from a first rate crew.  I had asked probably a dozen other painting companies to quote me about my popcorn ceiling removal.  Here's what I came up with - Unreturned phone calls.  No urgency to give estimates.  Sky-high quotes.  And a bunch of complaining about what a tough, messy job it is (no kidding - I've done it plenty of times before, and that's why I'm hiring it out now!).  Not impressed.  Finally read some reviews of Capital City, decided to try this again.  Ismael called me back almost immediately, then scheduled a time to come out and quote very soon after.  He seemed like a genuinely good guy, and was thorough in evaluating the job, which is always important because it tends to minimize surprises change orders later.  The quote he gave was really reasonable, and he was able to get a crew out to work within a short time.  The bottom line - the crew worked quickly and professionally; took great care of my home; and finished on budget, and ahead of schedule.  My house looks amazing, thanks to Capital City.  What more could you ask for?Do yourself a favor - step away from the computer, and give these guys a call already!  You'll be glad you did. [For whatever reason, I ramble when I'm excited about things.  If you like, skip to the end for the brief....]As can be told from some of my other reviews here on Yelp, my wife and I just bought a home.  We desperately wanted the entire interior painted, as it looked like Pig-Pen from Charlie Brown rolled around the walls while Michael J. Fox tried to paint straight edges at the trim and ceiling. We accepted three bids: one from the highest rated painter on Citysearch; one from a friend-recommended painter who still does hand-written estimates and doesn't understand this new fandangled "email"; and one from Michael at Capital City Paint & Restore.  I should note that my wife and I had very good feelings about all three of these painters.  While painting an entire interior is costly, Michael's bid for more work than was requested of the other two (kitchen ceiling, all walls at two colors / two coats, all closets and all trim), he actually came in lowest!I'll be honest...I gave him a hard time at the beginning, including a two page typed list of what I expect of a painter and explaining in detail what would not fly regarding edges and lines.  He laughed, told me that he understood that I had high expectations, and then explained his methods and process.  These were better and more thorough than what I had asked of him, and he won me over.Good: Michael is young but highly intelligent, uses quality products and paint/trim methods (e.g. tape and caulk, removal of cover plates, and brushing rather than spraying), and enunciates better than any English teacher in the south.  I also like that he was at the house the entire week painting and supervising rather than *hoping* that his men's standards were up to his own.Bad: One of the men on the job left a sweating cup on a wood table which left a slight ring.  Michael exchanged words with him about his "quality" of work; and as of Thursday, this man is no longer a member of Michael's crew.I had problems trusting many of the painters on this site (...did you REALLY get seven 5-star reviews in a week?!), but I'm proud to have now added this detail-oriented and reasonably priced painter to Yelp for your consideration.*** Update (10/28/2009):After my wife and I were so impressed with how the interior turned out, we commissioned Michael to paint the exterior trim and sand/stain our sun-bleached door.  I compared his quote, and he was $600 to $1,000 less expensive than the other two bids that I had from those painters I mentioned above.  The trim looks great, and I inspected the lines *very* carefully after my co-worker mentioned that painting trim is a p.i.t.a. to do cleanly and correctly.  Michael is the first person that I've written a review for that I can confidently say that I trust.  Thanks again!
