We have a German Shepard and we were nervous at first that he wasn't going to do well because we waited a little longer to get him through training. We didn't put him through the first "puppy" training they offer but I high suggest that while having your dog go through the classes.Even though our dog is stubborn, hates to actually listen when learning new commands, and literally made us want to rip our hair out Marty was understanding every step of the way.The way he interacts with every dog is amazing, as if they are his own. Our dog loves him so much even though he grew out of the excited pee stage he will still do that when he sees him from time to time. Marty is encouraging and helpful and will never make you feel bad about anything with your pet. And to be honest the prices for what you actually get out of the class are extremely reasonable in my honest opinion. Compared to what other people have paid for different trainers I am content 100% and feel like our dog and others behave better as well as have a better bond with their owners coming through his training's. Marty is amazing! We could barely get our golden doodle to sit when we started and now we get complements constantly about her behavior any time we take her in public. He not only helped us train our dog, but also trained our entire family about how to make the most of the training experience. There are so many choices out there for everything. You want only the best for your furkids. Marty throws his heart & soul into his Business. He truly wants you to succeed and it is not all about the $$$ with him. he will work with you on problems that you have with your dog until you are satisfied and then some. My furbaby Hercules has gone through three levels of classes with Marty and all of them have exceeded expectations. Hercules was able to preform better than I anticipated under the guidance and coaching of Marty. Marty takes the time to give each dog individualized attention in a group setting and makes sure that each dog performs to the best of his/her ability. Marty is absolutely fantastic! I started taking my puppy to a beginners puppy class at another facility. My puppy graduated and learned some basic commands but the instructor was not very engaged and was hands-off with the owners and their dogs. Instead of continuing with the next level class I decided to look into another facility. Best Paws Forward was highly recommended by my vet as well as a family relative so I decided to sign up for the Puppy STAR class that was offered. I learned more in the first Puppy STAR class than I did in the entire six week class at the other facility. Marty is extremely passionate about dogs and he treats every dog like they are his own. He is very knowledgable and will do whatever it takes to make sure both you and your dog succeed. My puppy graduated from the Puppy STAR class and we continued on with the Basic Obedience class Marty offers which we are currently taking. I plan to stay with Marty at Best Paws Forward and highly recommend his classes to anyone! More...

Marty is an awesome dog trainer. We completed his Advanced Obedience class with Rascal, our 1.5 yr old german shepherd. Marty is very passionate and works with the whole family (including children) in training the dog, which is very important.
Watching him work with the children was awesome, he truly has a heart for both dogs and children.
Although my personal training style was not the same as Marty's, he was able to work with me and give me advise. This is not a common trait dog trainers have, and I have a lot of appreciation and respect for him because of this.
I spoke with him about my goals for my dog, and he was very helpful in advising how I could reach these goals. He said to me, "let me know what your goals are, and I will do my best to get you there." And I know that he truly will give me everything he can offer to help me attain my goals. You will be hard pressed to find many trainers like Marty!
My only wish is that we didn't live 35 minutes away!

Marty is an amazing teacher and it's obvious with his personality how much he truly cares for each and every "student" that wags it's happy tail whenever they come near him. This was my first time ever in a academy with training issues and with Marty's help, compassion, we were able to get Hitch back on track where he needed to be. I've been very happy with Best Paws Forward. Â The class sizes are small so you get direct attention and instruction from the certified trainer leading the class. Â The venue is clean and well taken care of. Â The trainer is very kind and funny and only uses positive reinforcement training techniques which is a must for any dog owner who truly wants what's best for their pup. They have several classes as well, everything from beginner puppy classes to therapy dog to working and tracking classes.
