We have been working with Balanced Behaviors with our German Shorthair Pointer puppy. They are excellent! We love that they can come right to our house for lessons! Very patient and adaptive to what we are trying to do with our dog. They understand the balance between training needs for hunting and house obedience and tailored a program that fits. We have done a number of day trains and notice a marked improvement in Trudy from the time they pick her up and drop her off. They are a HUGE help! Amber and Tessa are amazing! So knowledgeable and thorough and kind. Very flexible and responsive too- they make it work even with their clients’ busy schedules! I have been doing private training with Amber and my dog for a few months now and it’s fantastic. Tailored exactly to what we need and super helpful each time. Tessa and Amber and their pack are wonderful to work with. We've been working with my dog Zeke to set some foundational training as improve his behavior around other dogs. I love going to the trails and it was very challenging with Zeke until I started working with these two and their dogs. They are more than willing to meet at my house, a park or a trail to help Zeke getv used to all of these settings. He's made enormous progress and he can actually be off leash which we thought was a distant fantasy!!! Their lessons are concise, easy to follow and they provide homework so we can work on very specific tasks before the next lesson. They nudge me when they haven't heard from me to set up another lesson which I love and they allow you to determine how frequently you have the lessons. They want you and your pup to succeed and are truly invested in your and your dog's progress as well as their safety. They're both pretty darn cool too. I highly recommend them!! More...

I did a pretty extensive search for a good dog trainer for our puppy. As soon as I met Tessa and Amber, I knew they were exactly what we were looking for. The instant feel I got from them was warmth, kindness, patience, but firm in their training. After our first lesson, our dog was already showing significant improvement in her obedience. They are so thorough in their guidance and handling, along with very detailed but easy to understand notes to keep so you can continue to practice at home in between lessons. They are always available to ask questions, and quick to respond to emails. I love that they train in real life situations, like dog parks (where my dog is MOST distracted,) trails, greenbelt, etc.. Tessa and Amber of Balanced Behavior Dog Training did a great job of taming our energetic Vizsla. They helped us to work on basic obedience, distraction training, impulse control and so much more! Their explanations were clear and they spent at least an hour each week teaching us what they had worked on that day answering any questions that we had. They even gave us homework every week in order to prepare for the next session. Both Tessa and Amber are both very approachable and their passion for dogs is evident. My cat died 2 weeks ago and I had a trip planned over TG. I was having trouble trusting anyone to take care of my dog because I couldn't stand the thought of anything happening to him or people not taking care of him to keep him stress free. Amber is the only person in the valley I trust enough to leave my dog with. She was awesome and took pics every day my dog looked so relaxed and content. It really put my mind at ease! Tessa and Amber are great, my dogs love them. I recently moved to the area and I was looking for a dog trainer for my rather unruly and stubborn dogs. I enrolled them in day training program which consisted of one training session a week for 5 weeks. After the training both my dogs are listening 10x better, they aren't pulling on the leashes when out walking especially when they see squirrels. They are all around better, calmer dogs. Tessa is THE BEST!!! I really can’t say enough about her and the impact she has made with our pups. They were super unruly with zero self control. I gave up on walking them. It was a nightmare. In comes Tessa and they are literally good dog citizens now! They walk without pulling and they patiently sit and wait for dogs and people to pass by them when out on walks. It has been 100% turn around in every area. Our problem Barker does not even bark now!!! I honestly could not do this without her. I highly recommend her without hesitation to everyone I know. She has a way with them, and gives us the tools we need to help them know exactly what’s expected. Thank you Tessa for coming into our lives and turning this double puppy thing around! Tessa and Amber of Balanced Behaviors Dog Training are talented, passionate and incredibly knowledgeable in all things dog. Finding Amber & Tessa has been such a positive game changer! I am incredibly picky about who gets the opportunity to work with my fur kids and I trust these ladies 100%. Being able to partner with these ladies in all aspects of the training process ensured that not only are my dogs well trained but so am I. They helped me reach all of the goals I had and even more than I imagined was possible. I am now able to walk all three of my dogs without pulling and craziness. This review is on behalf of our clinic's rescue, All Valley Animal Rescue. We recently needed assistance with an amazingly sweet but fearful/timid Great Dane who was relinquished to our rescue's care earlier this year. This Dane came to us injured, requiring surgery and a few months of recovery time. In that time, she became very stressed in her kennel, becoming fearful and reactive towards our staff members. She slowly began to trust the staff who fed and cared for her, but as the months went on, we were becoming desperate to find her the help she needed. Her fear was so great that it made it impossible for her to meet potential adopters since very few families are comfortable taking on an unpredictable large breed dog. Unexpectedly, one of our employees happened to meet Tessa and Amber at a local event which eventually developed into a conversation about our sweet but scared Dane. An initial evaluation date was set, and after only the first two sessions, I can truthfully say our girl was already showing signs of improvement! Their patience and communication far exceeded our expectations, and our Dane slowly but surely began to come out of her shell, developing the confidence she needed to walk successfully on leash, meet strangers and other dogs, and just socialize appropriately. The relationship we have built with Tessa and Amber has been such a blessing, and we cannot express how grateful we truly are for all their help. We are so happy to say that after 7 months in our rescue and just one month of training with Balanced Behaviors, our sweet girl was adopted out to a wonderfully loving home! We know this would not have been possible without their help, and we look forward to working with them in the future with other difficult cases that may come to our rescue. I have had a few trainers other then Amber and Tessa and I didn’t feel as confident and comfortable with them as I did these two. I was very impressed with their knowledge and they explained everything so well. They are always willing to keep answering questions even though we are not currently training. They were very punctual picking up my dog, Kai, and when they brought him back they took extra time to work with me and Kai together. They have gone above and beyond for us. I trust both of them 100%. They are very professional and incredibly nice. But most of all Kai is totally in love with them and their dogs. I thought it was awesome that they have their dogs involved with the training so they learn as a pack. It definitely was a perfect match and they are completely worth it. Kai and I have learned so much and his behavior has greatly improved. They both have so much enthusiasm working with dogs. I completely trust Kai in their hands. I think Kai speaks volumes when he cannot contain his excitement when they come (or even if I say their dogs names. He knows who they belong to). It is obvious that they love what they do.
