We recently enrolled our 8 month old GSP in their 15 day training course. It was worth every penny! Not only did they nail down basic obedience for our puppy, but also taught him some of the more advanced and crucial commands which make him so much more controllable and responsive in public and at home. Leslie sent us multiple updates throughout the training process, including videos of his improvement as well as pictures of him enjoying his stay at their top notch facility. Most importantly, the trainers spent well over two hours with us after the training was complete to ensure we understood what each command means, how to use the command, and how we can continue his training at home. Well over a month after completing his training, Leslie still checks in on us and our puppy to ensure we are happy with where he is - having had multiple dogs in the past and other trainers, I know this is not the norm. Leslie and her team go well beyond the standard training and truly take pride in their work! The Nelson pups LOVE A Better Dog Kennel...and so do their parents! When our oldest was on her way over the rainbow bridge, every staff member reached out to us to see how they could help us. When our middle dog was diagnosed with lung cancer and we were called out of town, they took care of her as if she were there own. The owner even asked if she could take our dog home with her if she seemed to need extra care. They work with our "scaredy pup" and his space issues, making him comfortable in day care and finding dogs he likes to play with. Even our new puppy is already loved by them! I've heard the staff members call the dogs in their care (including ours) their family, and that's exactly how they treat the dogs and their owners. I have 8 dogs and we went to Greensboro for my sons wedding this weekend. I boarded my 3 big dogs. I was worried that they would think I abandoned them but when. I picked them up they were quite happy. Having their pictures taken so I could see them really put me at ease. I am very happy with how it went and. I will for sure use them again! I'm an "old" customer having lived in NC for two years taking care of my dad and boarding occasionally, and then I moved back to PA and still visit in NC. I hadn't used A Better Dog Kennel in about 3 years. We recently had a work trip that took us to NC and I had to board my two Basenjis. Everyone at the kennel, and especially Leslie, helped out tremendously when I had to work out some vaccination records with one of my dogs, and some separation anxiety concerns with a new rescue of ours. They were very accommodating, and when I called in to check on the pups, I got wonderful reports on the phone and I never felt like they had to hang up fast. When you're far away from your pups, having as much info as possible into their daycare fun really helps. Our dogs ALWAYS are excited to go there and they run towards the back eager to have fun. Our dog Darcy had a wonderful time here yesterday for her very first visit! We were very pleased with our experience in the Doggie Day Care! We were greeted with an enthusiastic worker who loved on Darcy the moment she came through the door! Darcy is a 6 month old puppy who LOVES to play! So I thought I'd leave her to play with other fur babies while I ran errands and worked! It was a great feeling knowing that I wasn't leaving her in her crate all day, something I don't like doing! She came home exhausted from playing all day and smelled GREAT because they'd given her a bath before she came home! I was thrilled!! This is the best kennel we have found in this area. They look after our dogs so well and always are able to accommodate last minute reservation requests we have. One of our dogs, although a sweetie at home, gets rather stressed out when he gets boarded at any kennel and they know exactly how to handle him and make him as comfortable as possible. My dog Jaxon had a great time here! It was my first time ever dropping him off at a doggie daycare and the employee who greeted me in the morning was so nice and caring. I could really tell she loved the dogs like her own! She showed me where he would be sleeping, and told me the schedule for the dogs day. When I went to go pick up Jax the other employee was very kind and told me in detail all about my dogs fun day. Jax was tired from all the playing and clean when I brought him home. Since moving to Charlotte from NY two years ago we've had a hard time finding a place we felt comfortable leaving our fur babies, one of which is a pitbull and has gotten the side eye from other kennels down here. We could not be more happy to have found a home away from home for our dogs. I couldn't speak more highly of the staff who were more than attentive to our needs and were always happy to provide an update on their stay while we were on vacation. Picked up our dogs after boarding five days this morning. They weren't even happy to see us, that's how much they love this place. And they post pictures and videos constantly for my piece of mind. Our Dog Vespa had the best time here while we were on vacation. We really appreciated the pictures posted to Facebook of her playing several times during the week which gave us comfort knowing she was happy while we were away. The girls at a Better Kennel were very kind and had captured the affection of Vespa which does not come easy as she was a rescue from some very bad people that abused her horribly making her skiddish around other people. This is the second time that we dropped our dogs off at A Better Dog Kennel whilst evacuating from our home in Savannah. The first time we only had two and this year with the addition of our Jen Girl, we had three dog. From the moment I called them they remembered Boda and Griffin and absolutely welcomed all of our pack back. One of our dogs is slightly dog aggressive and some people do not understand it but it was amazing to see the attention that A Better Dog Kennel gave him and he actually made a friend in day care. Having a kennel not be afraid and understand my dogs anxiety definitely makes me feel less anxious when leaving them.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and am actually excited to take our dogs back there next time (hopefully not when we are evacuating).
In addition shout out to A Better Dog Kennel for doing a special evacuation rate during Hurricane Irma, when other kennels were not offering as much you guys definitely went above and beyond.... More...

Our girl has been going here for two years. She absolutely loves it. She cannot get out of the car fast enough when we pull into the driveway. They all know her and she knows them. We’ve boarded our pups here 3 times now and are very pleased. Very friendly and clean! We have one full Pit and two Pit mixes and I informed Leslie the owner of each of their temperament. All three skittish with other dogs and two with people as well. Rest assured, she happily took in all three and eased my mind that there are staff there experienced with aggressive dogs. Turned out- outside of their home environment they weren’t aggressive at all! More scared and unsure. The most skittish one was in a run by himself to prevent frustration nipping on other two and the other two were kept together but all three in a more private area in the back in runs next to each other or across so they could still see one another. They happily give daily updates if you call to check and provide pictures on Facebook which really ease my mind being that the two mixes aren’t fond of strangers. The staff still kept them involved with cute Christmas photos wearing silly antler ears and garland they were able to even get on Lilly. So cute!! Even a picture of our shady boy..weren’t able to get any props on him, understandably, but I was so pleased to see a pic of him! Highly recommend. More...

Our pup comes here twice a week for daycare and she LOVES it! The staff are awesome, always going the extra mile. And the facility is so well kept and clean. We love how affordable the daycare packages are, too. We also love seeing posts of Sammie playing with the other pups! It’s so great for her to have a place to come run all of her energy out during the week!

A Better Dog is a wonderful kennel! They rescued us when the kennel scheduled to watch our dogs backed out the day we were supposed to leave for vacation! My husband and I moved down to Charlotte from NY a couple years ago and have had a very difficult time finding a place we felt comfortable leaving our two large dogs with. I was extremely impressed with the staff, they really went the extra mile to make us and our fur babies feel comfortable, allowing us to bring them ahead of time to acquaint them to the staff and the space.
