What do you love most about your job?

Working with other business owners. I love working with people who are as passionate about what they do as I am. It is incredibly rewarding to take someones vision for their business and bring it to life in photographs.❤️

What inspired you to start your own business?

Do you want to hear my story?

Honestly, I kind of fell into running my own business. One job led to another and one day I woke up and realized I'd been creating photographs for clients for over 10 years.

I've continued to run my own business because it is so much fun to keep growing it. Every year brings new challenges and the opportunity to improve by learning new skills and working on different kinds of projects.

I started my career photographing weddings.

I learned how to create photographs in a range of different environments, during situations that were emotional for my clients all while on a strict timeline.

It was high pressure and I loved it!

In 2019 the studio I run with my partner, Hastain Davis Studios, made the list for the ✨Top 10✨ wedding photographers in North America by Masters of Wedding Photography. Then in 2020 we were ranked #37 on the ✨Top 100✨ International list by ISPWP(The International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers). I have won awards for my work and been fortunate enough to photograph weddings in Mexico, Puerto Rico, St. Barth, the Dominican Republic and many cities across the United States. ❤️✈️

When I was starting out, fresh out of college, I didn't think being a wedding photographer was going to be glamorous or exciting, but I was happy to be working and stuck with it. The more energy I put towards my business the more doors opened. I ended up photographing weddings and events that were more spectacular than I ever could have dreamed of.✨

For most of my career product photography was a side hustle that I did mostly for friends and family who were also business owners. My creative portrait portfolio was made up of images of my friends in entertainment or fun photoshoots we would set up on weekends I wasn't shooting weddings. With a successful event photography business going full steam I didn't have the time or need to pursue more commercial work. Of course, 2020 changed all of that.

I'm an artist and a photographer so no matter what happens I'm somehow going to be creating... and with almost all of my weddings and events postponed I was left with an abundance of time to do just that. Mad Fizzy, my commercial brand, was born during quarantine. I consolidated my portfolio into a website, posted on social media and jumped head first into client work.

I wasn't sure I would enjoy doing still life projects full time, because I love people so much. To my surprise I have found that I LOVE being in my studio. ❤️ There is nothing more satisfying than starting with an empty table and building it into something magical✨ Stop motion animations are so fun and playful, in many ways I feel like a kid in art class coming up with ideas and experimenting with different materials.

The beauty of running my own business is that I get to decide what I want to work on. I can pivot in any direction I choose and my business is only limited my my imagination.

If you are in need of wedding or portrait photography, Hastain Davis Studios is still open and will be accepting a limited number of new clients for 2022. I'm excited to continue growing Mad Fizzy and sharing my creativity and content creation skills with brands and business owners.

Why should our clients choose you?

I believe in hard work... but I also believe that works doesn't have to feel hard.

I enjoy what I do and I love to have fun with my projects. It is important to me that the process is enjoyable for everyone involved.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I offer client consultations in person or via telephone/zoom. For product photography I am happy to work out of my home studio (my dog loves it ♥️), clients simply drop off a box at my door. I also offer on location services for clients who need content created in their space.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I respect the policies of the businesses I work with and follow all safety guidelines when it is necessary for me to work on site. I enjoy working remotely in my home studio whenever possible.
