What do you love most about your job?

I get what it means to feel lost, stressed, and overwhelmed by business financials. That is why I am passionate about making sure my clients are comfortable and confident with their numbers, so they are not blindsided with a tax bill they cannot afford to pay. I live my life with purpose and thrive on helping clients to do so as well.

What inspired you to start your own business?

A story I hear often when I speak with a potential client is, “I’m so frustrated because I am behind on my bookkeeping and my tax preparer gives me the news of a BIG tax bill every year! As potential clients share with me their situation, I see my own story in them!

It was January 1996 and I had locked myself in my husband’s office for the entire month to work on financial statements for the tax return. He started a new business the year before and I became the default bookkeeper, even though I had no formal training and had no idea what I was doing.

I purchased QuickBooks software, thinking that since it was made by Intuit it would be intuitive….well, it was not! At that point, I realized I had two choices…give up or figure it out! I was determined get it done and do it well.

After a few years, our corporate tax preparer told me that the financial statements I had given him were the best statements he had ever seen from a client. He asked me if I would be interested in providing QuickBooks training to his clients.

With the confirmation that I really did know what I was doing, in 2003 I set up my own corporation, and got certified in QuickBooks and became a licensed tax preparer to strengthen my financial knowledge.

Today, AdminBooks provides QuickBooks Online bookkeeping services, payroll services, tax preparation and business advisory services, helping clients grow their business. AdminBooks provides a range of high-quality services done REMOTELY to serve clients in any state. We use secure portals for sharing documents, web meetings (like Zoom) to review tax returns, and provide customized videos from their accountant which give our clients business insights.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Our firm has been transitioned to a paperless environment prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2020, the decision was made to close the local office location. Because we have a virtual office, there is no physical contact with clients and thus, no issue with Covid.
