Usually we enjoy eating here but today was just really bad service, maybe it was an off day. Took quite a while before we were served. No cutlery or serviettes when we were given our food, had to borrow from another table. Usually we get water, but none was offered. The table behind us had exactly the same problem, served by the same waiter. My wife ordered Taranaki Chicken and Bacon sandwich, which she's always enjoyed, when she asked if something was different because it tasted different it was almost made as if it was just her as nothing had changed, the waiter brought more mayo which was missing from the sandwich in the first place hence the different taste. We arrived and our food arrived an hour after ordering. The food itself was excellent and the young woman serving us was delightful. However, an hour was an intolerably long wait and no offer was made to recompense us for the inconvenience. In addition, the cafe offers Vienna Coffee. Quite simply it isn’t. I have had many Vienna coffees in Vienna. Black coffee in a proper sized cup with a lot of whipped cream on top - not in an espresso cup with a teaspoonful of whipped cream! We will not be back. Oh my goodness. Four adults plus toddler ate here for breakfast. Chose elixir breakfast, creamy mushrooms, chicken waffles, chicken salad and kids chips, iced coffees, and the freshly made juices. Usually we are very happy with Elixir however tonight (Thursday) we were disappointed with the service. The server (a young man) was abrupt and we were told the kitchen was closed, it was just after 7. We were able to get a slice and coffees but some people who came in at about 7.10pm were turned away and after they left the young man serving was rude about them.
