What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Lighting is always number one on my list, but I also believe that real, natural emotions can make or break a photo. There's nothing worse than a forced smile or awkward pose. As a photographer with a photojournalistic background, I know how to capture the real moments.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Do you have a picture in mind of what you're looking for? What don't you want your images to look like? What're your hobbies/interests? I prefer to get to know my clients a little before putting them in front of the camera so that they feel comfortable and at ease.
What do you love most about your job?
I love getting to know my clients and capturing their story with beautiful images. I've always loved storytelling from my days as a photojournalist in Seattle, Washington, and I've kept that same love and channelled it into weddings, engagements, family portraits and headshots.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Two reasons: 1) I honestly love photography. It has been a passion of mine since I was young. 2) My husband and I love to travel, so we're both focused on creating a lifestyle that allows us to set our own schedules and do what we love.
Why should our clients choose you?
I'm not like most other photographers. I won't force you into a pose if you're not comfortable with it, and I don't use huge light set-ups because I believe naturally-lit images are more honest and true. I've photographed everything from movie premiers and political protests to music festivals and sports games (all of which you can see on my website). I'm here to give you beautifully-edited photos that will last a lifetime.
