How many sessions of Therapy will I need?

Everyone’s treatment is different. How long your therapy lasts depends on many factors.

You may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your trusted Bark therapist.

What are the benefits of online Therapy?

The great thing about online therapy is that it’s so accessible. If you live in a rural area, have physical limitations or a hectic work schedule, or may not feel comfortable leaving the house, then travelling to your therapist may be an extra burden. With online therapy, you can get the help you need from anywhere in the world. You might be wondering how to choose the right online therapist without ever meeting them in person. With Bark, you can browse hundreds of potential therapists to find the right match. Check out their Bark profiles, websites, and customer reviews to help you make a decision.

How does online Therapy work?

Online therapy is very much like traditional therapy, the only real difference is that it takes place through email, telephone, video call, or even text messages. Like traditional therapy, your online therapist will help you to overcome difficult emotions and challenging life circumstances by listening and helping you to develop coping strategies. Whichever type of mental health help you need, Bark has hundreds of trusted online therapy professionals ready to support you in a broad range of specialisms. Just tell us what you need and we’ll put you in touch with the best online therapists.

How much do Therapists cost?

This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.

This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.

Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.

What should I look for in a Therapist?

Each route has its own leading body. For counselling it is the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), for psychotherapy, it is the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), for CBT it is the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and for clinical or counselling psychology it is the British Psychological Society (BPS). Each of these bodies accredits courses so make sure to choose an accredited therapist.

Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.

What are the benefits of Therapy?

Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.

How do I find the right Therapist?

You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.

It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.

It is a blend of scientific research and practical, real-world experience. I focus on strategies that are not only theoretically sound but also practically applicable. • A Miracle Worker: I am a coach, not a magician. I can provide guidance, support, and tools, but the real work and the transformation ultimately come from you, the client. My role is to facilitate that journey, not to single-handedly change your life without your active participation. What inspired you to start your own business?

My journey began with a powerful, personal revelation — the profound impact of mental health challenges, not just as abstract concepts but as palpable, lived realities. This experience was a catalyst, driving me to explore the intricate universe of neuroscience. It sparked an insatiable desire to unravel the complexities of the human mind, to dive deep into the labyrinth of our inner workings.
But my ambition was not merely to understand. I was propelled by a need to act, to transform insight into action. My passion led me to discover and harness evidence-based therapies that do more than treat symptoms — they transform lives. This was the genesis of my business, a dedicated platform where cutting-edge neuroscience converges with real-world solutions.
At the heart of my mission is a commitment to alleviate suffering and foster flourishing. We're using the rigour of hard science to drive genuine, lasting change. Every day in this journey is more than a job; it's a living testament to the power of healing and growth. It's an affirmation of a path that changes lives and redefines them. That's the essence of my work, and every day I get to live it is a day that reinforces my conviction and my path.

Matthew was phenomenal. My husband and I had battled with poor communication and the effects of it for quiet some time. Matthew gently brought us back to our origin and the techniques were subtle and practical. Now we don't even realise we are using them. Our whole family has benefited. We can't recommend him highly enough

Highly recommended if you want to go deeper in your own self exploration journey, to understand the road blockers you have created with your own beliefs, to let go, to feel better, to feel lighter... Thanks to Roxanne and my first ever Theta Healing session with her, my own journey has elevated, became even more “tangible”. Roxanne has a very “real” energy, makes you feel safe & comfortable. Although we connected virtually, I felt that we were physically in the same room. Already looking forward to my next session with her. Thank you Roxanne. You are gifted and I am grateful to meet you
