I first started working for my dad when I was 16. I’m now 35 so I’ve got nearly 20 years of experience under my belt. There’s almost nothing I haven’t seen before. I’ve worked on industrial and commercial properties, as well as historic properties and big apartment complexes. I’m always learning and I joined the National Federation of Roofing Contractors almost a decade ago. I’ve really been perfecting my skills ever since.
It’s a bit cliché, but my motto is ‘no job is too big or too small’. I’ll happily do some basic guttering or tile replacement if needs be, but I do enjoy the big jobs. I’m not an architect, but I love using my carpentry skills to work on loft conversions. I also have a lot of fun with big roof replacement jobs too, even though they do take a lot of time. I’m still happy to fix your chimney or remove asbestos from the loft though – not everything needs to be industrial scale.
I’ve been a member of the NFRC for ten years, giving me advice and support from the UK’s largest trade association for roofers. On top of that, I’m insured to cover any accidental damage that may take place during my work. I pride myself on being a highly accredited tradesman, but also on the customer reviews I’ve received. My clients are always pleased with my service, as shown in the high customer rating on my profile.

Friendly team, exceptional work. The builders at Goldcrest were respectful, friendly, and hard-working. Our home extension was completed on schedule and looks stunning. We’ll definitely be using them again for future projects.

Stress-free and reliable. It’s hard to find tradespeople you can trust, but Goldcrest made the whole process easy. They turned up on time every day, stuck to the timeline, and delivered excellent results. Couldn’t ask for more.

How much does Roof Repair cost?
Your expert roofer will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to help you select the best repair service for your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find roof repair today.
What does a Roof Repair professional do?
Roofers offer a whole host of services and work on either flat or pitched (sloped) roofs and undertake the following types of repairs:
Slating and tiling, using traditional or synthetic slates or roof tiles, on sloped roofs.
Fitting felt sheets or spreading a waterproof bitumen layer (known as built-up felt roofing) on flat roofs.
Removing or repairing broken tiles or slates (stripping).
Checking the roof timbers are sound.
Measuring and cutting materials to the correct size and shape.
Recovering the roof by laying strips of felt onto timbers then refitting rows of tiles or slates.
Cutting and fitting lead flashings around chimney stacks and adjoining walls.
Sealing roof joints with mortar, for example on ridges and hips, to make them watertight.
Specialist roofing techniques such as leadwork, which involves covering a roof using lead rolls often seen on churches.
Thatching where you use natural materials to cover a roof.
What should I consider before hiring a Roofing company?
It is a good idea to check these aspects before hiring a roofing company:
Real address - It is important to ask a contractor for a genuine address and check whether they have permanent staff members.
Multiple quotations - It is recommended to obtain at least three quotations from multiple contractors. Consider each quotation along with other things on your criteria such as communication, professionalism, insurance, reviews and more.
References - Ask the firm for references and photos of their finished work. Most contractors include portfolios on their websites. Ask the contractor for a list of references from clients they have worked with in the past and find out if they have been satisfied with the roofer’s workmanship.
Insurance - Make sure your roofer is licensed, offer contracts and have undergone formal training. Insurance does not only protect contractors from workplace injuries but also you as a homeowner. This means that if a roofer gets injured while working on your roof, their company will be the one to provide compensation and not you.
Reviews - Check out reviews of the company online and in particular pay attention to how a roofer handles negative complaints.
Experience - Find a contractor that has worked in the industry for several years and has performed yearly maintenance work on roofs they have previously installed.
Roofing warranty - One of the most important things you need to know is whether a prospective contractor provides a warranty. There are two separate warranties that should accompany a roofing installation: Workmanship warranty and manufacturer warranty. A workmanship warranty covers against installation mistakes. On the other hand, a manufacturer warranty covers against defects on a roofing material itself such as a roofing shingle.
Safety - Roofers must take precautions to prevent falling. Many roofers will be happy to carry out minor repairs to a roof using a ladder and a harness whereas others require scaffolding. Whether or not your roofing work requires scaffolding really depends on the nature of the job. If there is any risk of danger to a roofer and a ladder is not enough to guarantee safety, then scaffolding may be advised in line with health and safety regulations.
How do I check Roofer’s credentials?
You could look for roofers with a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Roofing Occupations or Level 2 Diploma in Roof Slating and Tiling.
Before you choose a roofer, you could read testimonials and read details of their services on their website.
You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out their roofing reviews from past customers too. This might also help you get some ideas for the type of repairs you want to book.
