How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
have the neighbours converted? which conversion are we looking to do, roof light, dormers, hip to gable or mansard? is there at least 2.2m head height? what roof do you have trussers or rafters? trusses is possible but rafters would require much more work. Where will the staircase go? many loft conversions are covered by permitted development rights so planning permission isn't required.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
depends on many factors, ie what loft conversion are you looking to have?
Dormers? mansard? stairs access will need to made to allow easy access to the roof space, the floor will need to be secured to ensure its capable of holding the extra weight, in most cases sections of the roof will need to be removed and re instated to allow for dormers or roof lights depending on which type of loft conversion you are having again additional supports may be required in other areas (load baring walls). electrics and plumbing followed by boarding and insulation will be required to the area to make patricians and to sound proof, then we second fix and decorate.

we have been working as a family of builders for 3 generations. myself and James have been running Parkers for 8 years as a couple after leaving a main contractor and setting up on our own.

we guarantee workmanship related defects for a 6 month period

What inspired you to start your own business?
both our families were builders before us and when we left school we both went straight in to the building industry. along the way we have had the opportunity to work along side some very skilled and knowledgable people. we have taken everything we have learnt and put it together to make Parkers what it is today.

all aspects of gardening and landscaping work undertaken, from planting to fencing. we offer a design and build service using our customers budget and ideas.
we have drivers with machine tickets who can use small to large digging machines.
plumbing
All aspects of plumbing undertaken by qualified plumbers.
plastering
We have 2 guys who solely do plastering work they are very clean and tidy considering the nature of the work involved and also work very fast.
painting and decorating
We carry out all aspects of painting and decorating and have a couple of guys who do the more intricate detailing to painting such as marbling and suede effect.
