My advice is don't use Yell. They can offer a relatively low monthly payment plan which looks appealing, but you are tied in for the year and paying them the total amount whether they deliver or not. In my case one confirmed lead in 12 months. When you undoubtedly leave you won't own your website either. Get someone to build you a website you OWN and will guarantee a return on investment to some level. All Yell care about is collecting that invoice each month and signing up the next victim. More...

Generally very happy with the adverts i have with Yell and feel they do their job at a reasonable price so would recommend. Free Website is limited as expected but very good and does what it needs to. Only downsides are that they keep contacting you on a regular basis saying they want to "help you update your ad" when in truth they just want to upgrade or sell you more, it is frustrating and i have repeatedly told them i am happy with what I've got. Second thing is you get a lot of spam calls as companies just search Yell for companies sectors they are targeting and just call them all so it makes you more visible/available for them to find. so statistics of call you receive through Yell are skewed as a lot are Spam. Lastly the Yell Messaging app has been down for well over a year it has been reported, i get an email each month saying they are aware of the issue and working on it but don't know when it will be resolved and just blame the app developers! i would suggest that a year is ample time to fix it!! when i suggested to Yell that i am not getting the service i am paying for they just say messaging is a free part of the service so no money off. Have used yell for many many years. Service is hit and miss. The policy of renewing advertising each year without any contact with you is unacceptable. complete and utter waste of £100 per month, I was paying £30 per month and getting very little, was told increase your area to get more customers, so increased the area and the monthly fee to £98 what happened after 6 month, nothing, use your own judgement

Don’t let them build you a website you’ll pay over the odds and they don’t deliver like the promise they make. I paid around £2,500 for mine. Check it out. It’s shocking and very standard. You’ll have the hard sell from a sales rep and it’s a nightmare getting updates done and when you do it’s by staff that don’t really have much of a clue what they are doing. Ok you've asked for my experience of Yell. Always asking my customers where they've seen my company advert it's never with Yell, well maybe 1 in 30. It's usually with Google. Before you say you promote me on Google too, I promote myself on Google and had the same hit rate before advertising with Yell, so there's little difference. I'll leave when I get round to it. What do you love most about your job?
Customer and job satisfaction are what i like most about my job, being able to finish a project and see the difference in the before and after knowing i have finished my work to the highest of standards and leaving the customers happy with the end product.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Having worked for other companies for 10+ years i wanted to be able to set my own standards and pick and choose to an extent who i work for. I can complete jobs the way i know they should be done and spend the time i need on preparing and finishing off jobs.
