I got in contact with Southdown Surveyors, to carry out a home buyers report on a property I was hoping to buy. Matthew went out to the property on the date agreed, carried out his report, and even called me after to make me aware the property had rising damp. A major issue for me especially having a little girl. Matthew even went back out to the property to confirm to the damp company, where all the damp was located. So glad I got in contact with this company. I will defo be using them again for the next property I go for. Great communication from the people in the office, also Matthew the surveyor himself. My wife and I used Southdown Surveyors during a recent potential house purchase. We had agreed a price on an older, character property and felt it best to fully assess the area and the property. We are both mightily pleased we engaged Southdown’s help as they flagged up some very serious, unseen defects in the property. As inexperienced first time buyers we would have been left having bought a seriously defective property with largely no sell on value and a huge bill simply to make habitable.Southdown Surveyors were extremely professional, diligent and very helpful. They provide a thoroughly detailed breakdown of the property they survey, from little things like nearby trees that might invalidate house insurance to highly detailed information on the structure and well being of the property.I think in some cases there might be a tendency on the house buyer’s end to avoid engaging a full survey but With what we have experienced I would strongly advise anyone looking to buy a property to engage a thorough, proper survey. The outlay in doing so is relatively minimal and when you are making such a large financial, and life investment, having professionals on your side, and ones who will help you as Southdown Surveyors did for us, is absolutely invaluable.Thank you again for all your help. The building survey report I received from Southdown for my proposed house purchase was extremely comprehensive and helpful. I had partly expected pages of general comments and padding. However it was very specific to the property and very detailed and it was clear that considerable amount of time and effort went into the survey itself and the report. It made very clear the remedial work and action points that are required and it will be very crucial in renegotiating the purchase price. Matthew Symonds who undertook the survey was genuinely interested and helpful in answering the various queries I had and gave me all the time I needed. He clearly understands customer service!
