Dog Training

Extremely professional and dedicated trainer. I had an initial telephone consultation with ShabaK9 and arranged for him to meet with our 6 month old GSD, Lola.

Huge progress made after just one session, which he then followed up with a personalised tailored training plan. Friendly and dedicated, ShabaK9 works with you and your dog to curb unwanted behaviour. Unreservedly recommend.

Ata helped me with my four year old German Shepherds reactivity. I had already seen another trainer that helped me a little but did not solve the issue. Ata showed me how to reset my relationship with the dog and provide the guidance and exercises that really helped transform him from high reactivity to ignoring with dogs when on lead. I will be using him again now to help settle a new puppy into the family. More...

Ata was someone that I noticed in my local area as his own dog is a GSD. I noticed how well behaved she was and would see him working other dogs in the local park. I wanted to take my dogs reactivity down a notch but also start advanced obedience as I have a working line German Shepherd. Ata still continues to do some walk and train sessions and is always at hand to support. More...

I was recommend Shaba K9 from a friend that had great results from Ata. I needed help with my cockapoo that was starting to bark randomly in the house and at bigger dogs when outside on lead. Ata very quickly managed to identify the cause and we went to work on it. I was very impressed by the way Ata was honest and explained simply to me what I was not doing and why my dog had suddenly got more naughty. We had a number of sessions and Ata was always on hand for any advice on WhatsApp and even went out his way to share recordings with his dog on how I should do things. Overall my dog is now a lot calmer and using Ata's German shepherd during our training has elevated the fear my dog had of larger dogs. Thank you Shaba K9! More...

Q&As

I find immense joy and inspiration in my work, which is centered around helping dog owners establish a balanced and joyful relationship with their pets. As I encounter various cases of dog challenges and training, I continue to gain insight into the cognitive aspects of dog psychology, expanding my knowledge.

What makes my job truly rewarding is the opportunity to spend my days working alongside man's best friend. Being able to interact with dogs on a regular basis is a privilege, and it brings me great happiness to see them thrive under my guidance.

My earliest experience with dogs began at the age of 12 when I was tasked with walking my neighbor’s Yorkshire Terrier, Pepi. Despite living in a flat, my childhood was filled with a deep love and care for dogs. Growing up on an estate, I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by many dogs, however, I also saw firsthand the negative consequences of poor treatment and lack of training. This experience solidified my passion for understanding and improving dog behavior and psychology.

In 2006, I acquired my first German Shepherd puppy, Shaba, followed by a Pitbull Mix puppy, Gucci, the next year. Observing their interactions with each other and other dogs further developed my understanding of dog behavior. My passion for training and behavior modification truly took shape in 2010 when I entered both of my dogs in a local charities junior dog competition, where Shaba earned first place for “most obedient” and Gucci was a runner-up for “fetch and retrieve”.

In 2020, I acquired my third German Shepherd puppy, Skyla, who is prominently featured on my YouTube and social media channels, and also assist me in certain cases. My approach to training emphasizes the importance of preparing dogs for real-world scenarios. My business, Shaba K9, was founded with the ethos of “Real world training” and this is reflected in my videos featuring my own and client dogs.

At this point, I made the decision to transition from my well-established corporate career to working with dogs and their owners full-time. I enrolled in Leerburg’s Online University to further my education in dog training and behaviour modification. I am also an accredited trainer and behaviorist under Will Atherton and part of a larger dog training academy community where qualified trainers share and support one another with any challenges that may arise. Additionally, I volunteer at a dog charity and provide support where I can. I am also planning to expand my services to assist those who have recently adopted dogs to ensure they receive the necessary support.

I am insured by Protectivity Insurance and have undergone a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Certificates can be provided upon request.

If you’re in need of dog training assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me for a complimentary consultation and let me help you and your furry companion.

My approach to dog communication involves creating a balance and adaptability that fosters a strong relationship and leadership. My primary objective is to equip dog owners with the knowledge and training they need to establish a healthy and happy relationship with their pets. By identifying the root causes of most issues, I can collaborate with owners to resolve them.

I am particularly enthusiastic about helping dog owners with severe cases of aggression, and I strongly encourage them to contact me before considering euthanasia. Over the years, I have successfully modified the behaviour of numerous dogs, establishing a balance between owner and pet that produces excellent results.

I offer online consultations based on the behavior of your dog. However, if your dog has a history of biting, I prefer to meet in person whenever possible.

Previously, I conducted only outdoor sessions, but now I offer both indoor and outdoor sessions, depending on the specific training needs of your dog. During the first consultation, we can discuss the details and determine the most appropriate approach.
