Having had some disappointing service and shoddy work from firms lately I was amazed and delighted by the attitude and workmanship from John and his employees. John is a friendly, helpful and efficient worker and kept me informed at all stages of the job he did for us on the roof in order to make our house waterproof and safe from winds again. St. Edmund's Church at Holme Pierrepont is a Grade 1 listed building and therefore subject to rules and regulations. A leak in the roof was causing internal damage. After many months of applying for permissions and grants, during which John kept in touch, work was finally able to start. After having a persistent leaking roof we decided eventually it was time to get it sorted. We had a number of quotes for a complete roof and although John was not the cheapest he seemed the best man for the job due to his vast knowledge, expertise and friendly manner. There were a few hidden challenges along the way , but John was able to sort them out with no disruption to us. He kept us fully informed during the work being carried out and once the roof was finished he came back round after the scaffolding was removed to ensure everywhere was clean and tidy. We had all our gable end pointed, as we had water ingress, near our window. From the onset John was professional and organised. He sorted the scaffolding, and arranged with Western Power to isolate the electrical wires. His work was thorough, and he communicated on a daily basis, along with photos on his phone, which is really good. He also went the extra mile for us, as it was a difficult task. His work manship was of an excellent standard and he cleaned everything afterwards. The work was completed on schedule, he was always on time. He is also a friendly guy who can be completely trusted. Very pleased indeed.I found Roofcare (Midlands) from a google search.I telephoned and an appointment was made for John to come out to us and give a quote for a problem we had with our chimney stack. He arrived on time (this is something a lot of tradespersons can't seem to do). He provided us with a written quote. In due course, scaffolding was erected. John started work. We had no idea just how bad the chimney was. Thankfully, John took a video and photos to show us. We were very shocked, it was evident the chimney was in a very poor state and had been for some time. In fact, it was in danger of collapsing. He cracked on with the job. He did an excellent job. John has previously fitted gutters and replaced lead work for us on smaller separate jobs. Approximately 5 years ago we had a new extension built with a shallow pitch roof and a quad of velux windows. The roof was originally covered with a rubber membrane material but it had been poorly fitted and there was water ingress around the velux windows. There was also a hidden gutter and downpipe which had never really worked from day one. Initially John came to survey the job and take measurements. He made the roof temporarily water-tight until the weather improved and a suitable slot became available. The roof was completely replaced with minimal internal impact. John protected out wooden flooring and kept the site tidy during the work. Communication was very good as John likes to take lots of pics and videos to clearly show the work carried out and he responds quickly to messages. We can recommend Roofcare with confidence based on their excellent repairs to our bungalow roof. John (roofer) and Carl his support worker worked smoothly as a team getting stuck in and carrying out the required repairs. The work included removing and replacing the old hip and ridge tiles, replacing any missing or damaged slates, removing and replacing all gutterings, downpipes and fixings and removing all the rubbish left due to the work carried out. The finished project has delivered everything we wanted. John kept us informed about what he was doing and why it was necessary throughout. As a team they just get on with things quietly - John working away on the roof and Carl mixing and feeding materials. Carl will welcome as many cups of coffee you put to him, John just keeps on working away and only has the odd cup now and then. We were very very pleased with Roofcare (Midland's) work. We received a proper quote for the repairs to our chimney stack. They erected scaffolding. We had no idea how bad the chimney stack was. John took a video whilst he was on the scafcolding and showed it to us. He then went on to rebuild it. The video was really useful and an excellent idea.They did a superb job. It looks like a brand new chimney now. He also fitted proper tops (I don't know what they are called). And tidied the area up. Again, he took photos to show us the finished result.There was no mess. They took any rubble away, swept up too. Due to dreadful weather, the start date was re-arranged. John from Roofcare was prompt to arrive and on the right day . Better than the other 2 suppliers did. He is very friendly and easy to work with. I found him to be very knowledgeable and pointed out a couple of areas that needed altering to improve the water flow off the L shaped shaped extension. He gave me a thorough break down of the high quality materials to be used. I thought the price very good for the quality. The roof was well overdue for replacing and he did stress that there may be additional work need doing that would require additional cost. When the old roof was removed it was a big mess beneath. The roof had been leaky for some time and the insulation was wet and some of the joist rotten and needed replacing some repairing. At this point I could have been ripped off by an unscrupulous trader. John discussed the options and gave me a good price for an additional time consuming job. I contacted Roofcare and two other roofing companies about a long standing problem I've had. From the outset, John was punctual, extremely knowledgeable and friendly and it was an easy decision to go with his detailed quotation. The works were started on the prearranged date and while John and the team were here there was little disruption to ourselves or our neighbours, another bonus was that they cleared away any mess before leaving each day and once they had finished, the area was left spotless.
