About

I’m a freelance graphic designer based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, with over 18 years of experience producing logos, print and digital design.

I really enjoy the whole process, from initial ideas through to print, and with the experience of running a repro house, I have become a very confident and accomplished artworker with a strong understanding of print and studio efficiency.

Graphic Design

This is the easiest review I have ever had to write as Rachels professionalism and artistic skill in developing my website were quite simply amazing.

Her ability to capture my ideas so quickly amazed me beyond belief and she made critical suggestions to improve the look and content which gave the website so much more depth.

I was extremely particular with my ideas and nothing was a problem for Rachel even when I persistently changed colours and layouts to then change them back to the original!

She was such a pleasure to deal with and I would recommend her if you are looking for someone who will go and above and beyond.

Graphic Design

Working with Rachel on this book felt like a partnership from the word go. The book is a journal of my grandson’s first five years, and Rachel’s input to it was transformational.

I was delighted – thrilled, in fact – to see Rachel’s initial designs. She chose a ‘scrapbook’ look-and-feel, with lively, varying layouts of images and text, and I could see straight away that this would engage and reward the reader and was definitely the right direction to go in. We went for a large landscape format with hard covers.

The rest of the book (124 pages, 17,000 words of text and almost 200 images) came together seamlessly from my point of view. It was exciting and satisfying to see the pages brought to vivid life. We had a couple of passes of minor text and image changes, and the job was done. Rachel handled all the arrangements with Blurb, which suited me perfectly, and brought the job in on budget, and at a competitive and very reasonable price.

I believe that the enthusiasm Rachel brought to this project along with her talent and experience made a huge difference to the quality of the result. It also made working with Rachel a pleasure.

The book was produced for my family and the reaction from them has been one of total delight. I’m grateful to Rachel for all her input to what was for me a labour of love, and I recommend her warmly and wholeheartedly.

Q&As

From receiving a brief from the client or business, I will get to work creating visuals ready to show either by email, or in person. From then, I will work up any suggested amendments, or design tweaks until the design is perfect and ready to go to print, or to prepare for online launch.

Initially the process begins with a detailed brief from the client so I can fully understand what it is the client or business needs. I need to understand the business fully, their competitors and business vision for the future. If necessary, designs the client likes so I can grasp their vision, or taste.

Meeting new people and seeing my designs out there!

I've been extremely fortunate to work with some amazing companies and design agencies over the years, but I felt it was time to go it alone and work freelance. This way I can work from home, work with lots of different people, plus work at various agencies which enables me to constantly learn and further my skills.

I'm confident, approachable, fun to work with, fast and have plenty of experience - but above all I'm creative.
