What do you love most about your job?
Structural engineering is something I enjoy - I love the built environment, and love design. I really enjoy meeting new clients and helping them turn a concept into a reality.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Having worked for several large organisations, I relished the chance to start something for myself. I am proud to say we now have a team of 8 and work on projects of all shapes and sizes, and enjoy over 90% repeat business and referrals.

Residential Design
We are justifiably proud of our track record in the residential sector, which accounts for over half our workload. Over the past ten years, since we were founded, PRO Structures has worked on all scales of residential developments, from single bespoke structures and extensions, to whole new villages. Our clients in the residential sector are split between small to medium sized architectural consultancies, predominantly in the South West and Midlands, and national house builders with offices in our region.

Commercial Developments
Commercial developments account for a smaller but still substantial proportion of PRO Structures’ work, and have historically included anything from individual modification works through to clients developing new business parks. Our experience in this sector also extends to a new Royal Bank of Canada regional HQ in Bridgetown, Barbados, which was located adjacent to the country’s listed Parliament building; new training facilities for the Gloucestershire FA, and a new 15-storey mixed used development in London’s Caledonian Road, where we are carrying out the structural glazing design.

Offices
PRO Structures is able to help with structural design for any aspect of office design, whether it involves internal modifications, conversions or a new build. We have worked on schemes such as converting a Bristol gallery into an estate agents’ office, and can offer related civil engineering services as well. We are also often involved in change of use schemes – most often from office to residential, but also converting agricultural barns for office and commercial use.

Public Sector
PRO Structures has worked on several public sector developments, such as the school and community centres below, as well as other schools including Bathwick St Mary’s in Bath, modifications to the Draycott and Rodney First School in Draycott, and disabled access design for Stogursey Primary School in Somerset. Prior to forming the company, our directors worked on larger projects such as the MoD Collocation project in Bristol, and an army firing range in Barbados – and we are currently working on the structural design for a new jetty in Anguilla, continuing our tradition of public sector developments in the Caribbean!
