About

We are a non-profit Karate Club, which means any money we make goes straight back into the Club. We teach because we believe it is a sacred responsibility to pass on the lessons of the Senseis before us.

We teach and train in traditional Shukokai Karate, also known as Tani-ha Shitoryu.

Q&As

Seeing students grow and the impact that martial arts has on the lives of our students. Especially when those students wouldn't have been able to have that experience without our Lottery funding.

I've been teaching for a few years now, initially I wanted to create a class that was perfect for my son. Before I knew it I was teaching all ages, competitors, and people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

We are all volunteers, and this club is a "home from home" for many of our students. We're completely inclusive and encourage everybody to progress at their own time. Our board is 50% female and we pride ourselves on being a safe and inclusive place for everybody to train, especially those who are usually underrepresented in martial arts. Whether training casually, looking to improve on your character, get fitter, improve your mental health, learn a new skill, or compete we have a team fully able to cater for everybody.

Services

We provide scholarships and funding through Karate for Good with our community partners - the Your Community Greenspace project with Nene Park Trust and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Find out more at https://oubaitori.uk/karate-for-good

We practice traditional Tani-ha Shitoryu-Shukokai Karate.

We are experienced working with students of all ages and abilities, including those who are neurodiverse and have mental health issues.

We train and practice traditional and freestyle Karate, we compete in traditional Karate and freestyle Karate / kickboxing competitions. Competition is entirely optional, but for those interested we have competitors who compete at local, interclub, regional, national, and international level in a variety of disciplines.

Our dojo is a safe space for everybody. We are proud to be, and to continually strive to improve upon our, inclusive practices. Everybody is welcome, everybody is respected, and everybody is safe with us.

We train with practicality in mind. Our team are experienced competitors and our head coach, Matt, is former law enforcement.
