I contacted the company as I needed a new boiler fitted and a friend had mentioned them to me.
I phoned the company and spoke with a very helpful person who fully understood my requirement and said that they would make a pre-booking visit to check out exactly what was needed to be done, location of existing boiler, any access constraints and recommend a replacement boiler (if we hadn't already chose a new model).
The engineer who came to check everything was very polite & helpful and fully Covid-19 PPE equipped. He said that fitting the new boiler should not be a problem based on his assessment of the current boiler. He also recommended a good replacement boiler which we took up on.
The job was booked in and on the day the 2 engineers were very conscious of completeing the new installation as quickly & efficiently as possible. They were very neat & tidy and gave us a very comfortable feeling with respect to their knowledge. Once the new boiler was fitted the engineers did quite a few checks to make sure everything was ok not only with the boiler but also our gas hob, hot water and heating. Very pleased and would highly recommend.

A power flush is essentially a deep, intense cleanse of your heating system and type of boiler, which aims to improve the quality of your system’s water by removing sludge, rust, and other random bits of crud.

These troublesome residues can cause issues if left to fester in your system - and let's be honest, festering crud is never a good thing. In fact, poor quality heating water is one of the leading causes of boiler breakdowns in the UK.

Ground Source Heat Pumps collects thermal energy from the ground to produce hot water for heating and domestic hot water. The ground collector is in the form of horizontal loops, pipework buried in the ground at a depth of 1.2 meters or vertical boreholes with a depth of 80-150 meters. A system mainly consists of the heat pump unit, a hot water cylinder (connected to the hot water taps), a buffer tank (connected to the heating distribution), expansion vessels and the ground collector. The ground collector consists of the ground loops (horizontal or boreholes) a ground manifold and connecting pipework. The heat pump is located internally, in a weather protected space.

We are MCS accredited and can offer both Planning, Desgn and the Installation of any Heat pump.

As with all types of heat pumps, it is important to specify the right size (kW) heat pump. For this, a room by room heat loss assessment of the property is required. A heat pump produces less hot water than a boiler and the lower temperature it can operate at, the more efficient the system is. Therefore, the overall efficiency of the heating system requires heating distribution (underfloor heating, radiators or fan coil units) which can deliver comfortable room temperatures at low operating temperatures.

We are often asked about the difference between ground source and air source heat pumps. A ground source system is considerably more expensive than an air source one, but ground source is usually a better investment on the long term for the following reasons:

Ground source is more efficient than air source, as the ground is warmer than the air in the winter when most space heating if required. Both types of heat pumps use electricity, but an air source heat pump will use around 15% more electricity than ground source to produce the same heat.
The government tariff payments are significantly higher for ground source. A domestic ground source installation can get payments up to £34,000 over 7 years, while the maximum payment over 7 years for an air source installation is around £11,500.
The expected life of a ground source unit is 20 years, while the expected life of an air source heat pump is 15 years. A significant share of the cost for a ground source system is the ground collector. The ground collector will support many generations of heat pumps. It is an energy well which is likely to last for a very long time.

As a homeowner for safety checking or as landlord of a rented property, we are able to carry out a gas safety inspection for you. A gas safety inspection checks the integrity and safety of all gas appliances at the property.

Included in the inspection :-

Check appliance for gas soundness.
Check standing and working pressure if test points available
Check burner pressure and/or gas rate against manufacturers data matrix
Check for satisfactory provision of all necessary ventilation
Test flue flow to ensure removal of products of combustion
Check satisfactory operation of all the flame failure devices
Check for physical stability; presence and effectiveness of stability brackets
Investigate any evidence of unsafe operation and report to a responsible person
Gas Alliance Services recommend the fitting of CO alarms to rental properties. We are able to supply and fit these alarms within your property.
A gas safety certificate will be issued upon completion of the inspection. Should for any reason the gas safety not pass, our engineer will advise how to move forward to correct any issues found.

Gas safety inspections are suggested to homeowners as an assurance that can help aid the sale of your property.

We also offer servicing of your boiler or gas fire.

It is recommended that your boiler is serviced annually. Our Boiler Services normally lasts 30 minutes and provides you with piece of mind that your boiler is safe and working sufficiently.

Within our Boiler Services, we carry out the following;

Safety Device checks
Operating pressure and/or heat output checks
Visual Inspections of the boiler and frame (if possible)
Case Seal checks
Internal and External flue checks including the route and termination
Component check of all key elements including burners, heat exchangers, main injectors, spark/sensor probes
Cleaning boiler parts (if required)
Leak Detection Inspections
Pipework and Ventilation checks
Combustion checks
Service Report Sheet

For one of our experienced Gas Engineers to attend your property and carry out an annual Service, you are looking to pay £70. However, if there are any issues with the boiler itself and requires further work, this is not included within our Service price and will be priced accordingly.

The most common boiler repairs consist of issues with printed circuit boards, combustion fans, diverter/zone/gas/pressure relief valves, ignitions, automatic air vents, thermostats, water pumps and thermocouple and range from £90 - £260.

There is nothing worse than being left without hot water and heating. At NorthStar Gas we can have a heating engineer visit your property within 45 minutes* to get your boiler back up and running.

Our friendly team of Gas Safety registered heating engineers are on hand to get to your home at the drop of a hat. Our teams experience ensures there is no problem we are not able to fix and we make sure it’s all with fully transparent pricing.
