Describe your creative process.
The first step, of course, is to get to know my client. We will have a chat over the phone and I will ask you to email me sample materials - either things you are already using, or perhaps some examples of the sort of things you like (this can be other businesses materials, or artwork, photos... anything that you think reflects something of the look you have in mind. We will talk about your favourite colours, fonts, and the style you want to go for - are you a professional corporate, or a creative craftsman, or a sassy entrepreneur...?
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
I need to know what you need from me - a logo, a business card design, a promotional poster, etc. We will discuss the formats you require your artwork in - whether you want me to create the digital artwork that you can then use yourself in your materials, have printed or uploaded to your website, or whether you want me to arrange printing so that you receive your shiny new business cards.
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping my clients to create a logo that they feel nails them - both professionally and personally. Being able to take my clients vision and see it through the final product - whether it be a logo, a business card or a snakes and ladders game (yes, really!) - brings me joy every time.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Two colleagues were setting up a consultancy and wanted me to be their design partner. One was a night owl, and the other started her day early in the morning. I was worried that I'd be working round the clock to support them, then a friend suggested I freelance and be my own boss. Genius!
