MLA did a great job architecting our 6 metre rear ground floor extension. We had a decent idea of what we wanted but MLA helped bring this to life, proposing different options with detailed drawings and great communication. They were always very responsive and had no issues with all the tweaks and minor adjustments we kept asking for. What I didn't expect was all the hands-on help MLA provided throughout the process, including helping with tendering, analysing quotes from builders, site inspections, and making countless practical recommendations. Their drawings were also super detailed - several of the builders we spoke to said they'd never seen such detailed drawings before! We have been so impressed with Michael and his team at MLA. They have been part of our house project for almost two years - from checking the derelict property before we even bought it, to creating plans, liaising with planning permission, going out to tender to find a builder (who was also awesome) and project managing the build to the end. I have heard of many nightmare stories of house builds but can honestly say ours has been seamless, on time and enjoyable. For those questioning whether to use MLA for the project management side, we deliberated but are so glad we did. From the outset, researched whether planning consent was needed (it was), provided useful breakdown of fees, accommodating of our changes to the plans and promptly responded to any questions. Followed up with Council in a timely fashion and provided all necessary paperwork following receipt of the necessary approvals. Michael worked with us to create drawings for a planning application to build a connecting extension between house and garage, and structural drawings for potential builders.
He is really friendly and professional. He clearly knows the business and was willing to listen to our ideas and met with us to go through different options available to us. He was very helpful when we had to appeal (due to a neighbour's objections).
He is always on the end of a telephone and responds to emails quickly.
We would definitely recommend Michael.

How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Firstly you will need to assess to existing fabric of the garage and to whether further structure is required to make it suitable to convert.
Then I would advise looking at the thermal performance and what areas will need upgrading to comply with building regs.
With this information, we can develop a pack of drawings to ensure the delivery of the new garage conversion
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
After the Initial Survey, I can determine if it is feasible for a loft conversion based on the roof truss type, either: Cut or Trussed and the Roof Pitch. After this point, we can decide on if a roof extension such as a Dormer Extension would be suitable for the property
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
-Initial Survey
-Draft Survey Information
-Produce Proposed drawings
-Liase with Structural Engineer
-Apply for Planning or LDC
-Apply for Building Regulations Approval
-Appoint suitable contractor
How long have you been in business?
I have been working at a large commercial architecture firm for over 5 years but have recently this year started my own company undertaking residential scale projects
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing the lines on paper transform into a construction on site and seeing our clients faces when the early concept is realised in reality.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Whilst working for many years in commercial practice whilst undertaking residential schemes out of hours it became apparent my client base was growing and therefore the decision was made to form MLA.
