Brilliant service from a great set of lads. Messaged about having CCTV fitted in our new home, and they came out the next day. Professional and reliable at such a great price. A more in depth review has been left by my partner. But all in all would 1000% never recommend Mac CCTV, the work that was carried out at my house is a mess, no where near up to standard for what i would expect for £350 and my wall is a mess, in a rented property. Our landlord could potentially take money from our deposit to replace the bricks in the wall that have been ruined instead of being kept neat and tidy as would be expected, potentially leaving us out of pocket. I’ve been biting my tongue writing a review but after speaking to another CCTV company who have highlighted and reinforced everything Mac CCTV have done wrong I feel like I need to share my experience. We were quoted £350 for 2 CCTV cameras, pretty much on par with other security companies offering similar packages, and after reading the reviews online I decided to go ahead with this. The first problem was when they arrived almost 45 minutes late without any heads up until I had to message them asking where they were. I wanted my DVR/cable running through my converted loft space that is now a bedroom but they said it couldn’t be done, so from the start I had very limited options in terms of installation. (The new security company confirmed this absolutely can be done by just going through the tiles in the roof with the cables and this would also make them discrete) They have used pre-made cables without terminating them on site - Which I was advised by the new security company this is a big no no and actually goes against BSIA guidelines, also meaning huge holes have had to be drilled from the inside to the outside to accommodate the connectors on the end of the cables (Could of been a tiny hole if they had been terminated onsite) The way the cable is running down the exterior wall and into the property also means that rain water can still get into the walls and cavity - which will end up causing a lot of more expensive problems down the line, and when confronted they told me that it was the same as what sky has done and we will be fine (it is not the same as sky, there’s not even a wall cover on it) The overall finish of the walls and workmanship was awful and when I asked them to come back to do some tidying up we basically got the middle finger and got told to do it ourselves. They didn’t even hoover up and tidy where they had drilled so I had to go back through after they had left and tidy up all of the brick dust all over the inside of my living room that they had left. No effort was put into concealing any kind of cable, and I was just left with huge spools of cable on my living room floor for me to sort. The cameras flicker and are awful quality at night, I was advised that this is because each camera needs its on power source, but instead they come from one with a splitter to power both cameras, hence the flickering and not actually being able to make out a car reg that is right outside my house. We are since moving house and I contacted them to provide me with a quote to move the system to my new house and they still haven’t actually gotten back to my message, though still actively posting on their Facebook page, almost leaving me with a £350 system that I can’t actually move to my new property, luckily another CCTV company I contacted reassured me it can be moved and installed correctly this time round, for a lot less that what I paid Mac CCTV. Bear in mind we had an inspection from the landlord a couple weeks after all of this, which I had told them on the day and they think it is acceptable to leave a job like this. The inspection clerk also agreed this is shoddy work and next to no attention to detail. We wanted to fork out some money to hire a professional company because we live in a rented property, but I literally could have done a better job myself.
