Really disappointed with the repairs service at this shop. Prior to collecting my laptop I understood that replacing the hard drive was the only option and I decided not to do this. When I collected my laptop I was informed that the repair would cost £75. We questioned this and the man said it was £75 to put the hard drive which had been removed to be inspected, back into the laptop. We declined this and asked to just have the laptop back. The man did not discuss any other options or explain what was wrong with the computer. We had the intention to buy another laptop however, due to the service and lack of discussion we decided not to. Helpful, Knowledgeable, Courteous couldnt have asked for more. I needed to help my parents source a new computer, as we now live some 300 miles away from them ongoing support after they bought it was important. Being in there 80's they sometimes struggle. I was recommended by a school frind to speak to the team at Yarm Computers and I am so glad I did. Very disappointing service, communication is non existent, had to wait 3 months to find out my computer couldn't be repaired, and this after 5 phone calls. Even when I purchased a new computer it took over week after the money had been taken from my account for the computer to be ready and then I had to phone to see if I could collect it. Just visited YC today to find an answer to a Windows 7 message which appeared over a week ago that says "Windows 7 Build 7601 - This copy of windows is not genuine" This is incorrect as the Computer was bought from a reputable retailer. Since this message appeared I am no longer able to update windows.Having searched the Web can find no answer to this only that it is a common error.YC were the last people to service the computer 12/05/2013.Being the 3rd visit in a monthThey were unable to help unless the computer was brought in yet again.Not good enough.
