We initially remodelled the lounge of our cottage with Jane Lanyon. She listened to our ideas, offered excellent design advice and produced a costed, workable plan; but she did more than that. She executed the plan to budget with the help of her network of excellent tradesmen, and using local craftsmen where she could; in our case for ironmongery and re-upholstery. The remodelled and redesigned room that resulted remains a joy every time we walk in; so much so that we went back and asked her to upgrade our bathroom and then our kitchen, which were equally successful. Jane doesn't spend money where it isn't necessary, and will work to a sensibly negotiated budget. She makes common sense decisions where necessary and essentially takes away all the hassle and time required to upgrade your inside space. I would recommend her services without hesitation. More...

They were also tactful in how they steered us gently away from our ideas that were (in hindsight) clearly wrong! We could not recommend JH Designs more highly. We bought a 5 bed period cottage in July 2018, a very long held dream of ours so to say we wanted it to be perfect (and that I was a slightly demanding client) is an understatement and JH Designs delivered, we absolutely love it. Helen went above and beyond, we had 3 months to completely update and furnish the cottage, all remotely from the US. We only met once prior to work commencing and not again until I visited to see the results!Helen kept our builders honest, juggled contractors and all the while consulted with me on design via WhatsApp and Pinterest etc. I would recommend Helen for the project management alone, she makes sure the practical is taken care of as well as the pretty. We had a realistic budget and she stuck to it which is remarkable enough but as we learned she also has an amazing ability to design a truly beautiful home. Until recently I felt that Interior Designers were an unnecessary option when going through a refurbishment. Jane and Helen were recommended to us for a complete revamp of a cotswold cottage, which was to be used for holiday letting.
Reluctantly I agreed to use them, and the results have exceeded all expectations. They did all sorts of things that we would never have considered, and have been proved correct in all aspects. The cottage has been a great success as far as the tenants are concerned, with rave reviews flooding in. Had we not used JH Design, I am quite clear that we would not have achieved that. They have both been a pleasure to work with, and managed the project with a thoroughly professional attitude. Using their suppliers has also saved us considerable amounts.
We were so pleased with the results of that project, that we have engaged them again, immediately on the next cottage.

We have worked with Helen and Jane since 2014. Initially we were purely looking for interior design advice. It soon became clear that JH Design could do so much more than that.
On our first project - a 2,000 sq ft renovation plus grounds in the Cotswolds - they were able to put together a comprehensive project management plan covering the full gamut of site inspections and surveys, remedial works, regulatory compliance, and structural designs. They managed the multiple individuals and team throughout, handling problems and conflict with care and humour. We always felt that we were in control of each set of decisions, but never that they were a burden on us.
Their specialty and passion is clearly for the design and finishing aspects of their projects; at which they are quite brilliant. We now trust them implicitly to know what we like, and occasionally to push us beyond our natural (conservative) instincts.
The feedback on the Cotswold property has been unanimously positive. For our second project - a 4 bedroom house in Dulwich, London - we felt comfortable enough simply to paint a picture of what we wanted to achieve. The outcome was spectacular (aside from a few jealous neighbours). Project three is in the offing for 2017.
Throughout our time together, both Helen and Jane's passion and integrity for their jobs is forefront. Our budgets were managed very tightly, time-tables were kept to, and throughout we felt both in control and informed."

What’s your interior design process?
We will visit you to discuss the project, your budget and timescale and we will offer helpful ideas. Our comprehensive design library of fabrics, furniture lighting, etc. will help us to guide you through the maze of goods available.
We can then produce mood boards (using Pinterest and iCloud sharing) to inspire you; arrange estimates for work as necessary; and provide more detailed budgets for your project. Or, you may simply require samples and an estimate. Whatever the scope of the work, we will advise the best route and then oversee the work for you.
