How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
This is mainly down to experience, a good sign normally is look at the houses near to your property and of a similar size to yours, if they have had loft conversions then there is a good chance you will be able to do the same, failing that a visit from one of our team can quickly asses the potential to extend into the loft area.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Firstly you will need to have detailed plans produced to your required layout, once you have approved these, depending on the design you may need planning approval, if not you will need a structural engineer to draw up plans to ensure the design is structurally sound, once these are produced you will need to get the local planning authority to check and approve they conform with present day building regulations, after these are approved you can start the works, which will also be need to be overseen by a building control consultant, this process must be followed if you ever intend to sell you home and maximise the true value in the future.
