Q&As

A great website gets the message across instantly on any device and helps people get the most out of what you have to offer. It loads quickly, is clear and easy to understand, is entirely secure, optimised for search, is a pleasure to use for your customers and ultimately helps you improve your business.

What is your business all about?
What are the key points that you need this website to communicate?
Who is your target audience? What are their needs and preferences?
Do you have any branding guidelines or existing design elements that you want to include with this website?
Do you have any specific design preferences or requirements?
Do you have any examples of websites that you like?
Do you think that your site will require regular updates or maintenance?
When do you need this site to launch?
What are your main considerations with the site hosting?
What do you class as a conversion?
What's your budget?
What content do you already have?
What are the key metrics or analytics that you would like to be tracking?

Kick off
We would kick off the project with a quick call so I can get a proper understanding of your business, what you want the website to achieve and the kind of direction you think you would like to go in.

Sitemap development
We would then create a detailed sitemap using a collaborative platform called octopus.do which allows us to plan the site out with low-fi wireframes.

Wireframes and designs
Each key template page would then be progressed to more finished wireframes via a collaborative Adobe XD prototype. The same prototype would be used to to take the designs through to sign off before the build commences.

Build
When the designs are signed off, build will commence on a staging server. You will get access to the dev site a few weeks prior to launch so you will have plenty of time to review and feedback.

Delivery from this point will be reliant on the content and imagery provided.

Prior to launch, the site will be thoroughly cross browser and device tested using a platform called LT Browser

Post-launch
I will provide technical support and assistance to maintain the website, including correcting any errors or deficiencies for the first year after launch. I will also offer basic technical support for the first 60 days, which will include helping you with the basic Wordpress interface, how to use the Elementor CMS to update existing content, how to add new content and imagery and how to create blog posts and new pages. I will also show you how to make use of the built-in marketing tools.

Hosting
I need to know how you want to host the site. I highly recommend using Wordpress specific managed hosting. Wordpress is an open-source platform and can include any number of third-party plugins, any one of which can break a site at any point. If you have managed hosting, your site will be regularly backed up so it will be easily recoverable. Good managed hosting also means you get priority support from Wordpress specialists which can be hugely valuable.

Content and imagery
In order to launch your site you will need to provide me with all the required content and imagery. I can help you source imagery if you need it and I can quote for this separately.

If you are still creating content then that’s fine but the site launch will be dependent on the content and imagery that you provide. If this isn’t provided, we will either have to delay the launch or alternatively we can launch with any incomplete sections temporarily hidden, but this will incur additional costs due to the time required to make the required updates to content areas and links.

Branding guidelines and requirements
Prior to the design stage, I will need to know if you have any branding guidelines that we will need to work to and if you have any existing design elements that you would like to include on the site.

Likes and dislikes
It will be really useful if you are able to provide some examples of sites or particular elements of specific sites that you like or think could be something that could work on your new site. Also, if there are any specific things you really don’t like, that could come in really handy during the planning stage and beyond.

External third-party services or technologies
I will need to know if you need the website to integrate with any other external third party services or technologies.

I work across a wide range of design disciplines but I really love the process of putting websites together from scratch because it’s the closest I get to actually building something. There is a great deal of satisfaction to be had from crafting something and launching something.

I was managing fairly large and varied projects for a number of years - taking them from concept to launch and supporting and developing them post launch. It eventually just made a lot more sense to go it alone. I’d built up the relationships with developers, marketeers and content creators so it was a fairly pain free process setting up on my own.

Another deciding factor was how the business model of the company I was working for had changed. It went from a full-service digital agency to a far more specialised lead generation service, and as such there was a reduced need for site design and build so, again, it made a lot of sense to make the change.

I love what I do, I'm genuine and honest and I'm pretty good at what I do. I benefit a lot from ongoing professional relationships so it’s critical to my business that I provide my clients with a service that makes them want to come back for more.

I create solutions with objectives in mind and I've got the knowledge and enthusiasm to make sure that I make the most of what's available with every project. I also have access to a fantastic team of Wordpress and Shopify developers who I’ve worked with now for around 7 years.

I work remotely so location isn’t a problem and we can collaborate through a wide range of platforms and services.

None really, I’m very seldom in direct contact with any clients as I work almost entirely remotely. .

Services

I create websites with all sorts of objectives in mind using Wordpress and Elementor Pro as the page builder and content management system.

I can also provide tremendously reliable and secure hosting on either shared or cloud based dedicated servers but I'm also happy to build on your own hosting if you'd prefer.
