Clacton can sometimes be an intolerable place to work,live, school etc, and with the ever changing times and unknown round the corner, your safest and best thing is to be able to make a stand and be strong and ewrk helps with that. not only does ewrk stand for a karate club but stands for excellence too. Sensie Alistair can make a class not only fun but educational, easy, and adaptable for all, with regular ladies/girls self defense classse, to weapons training, to basics it's all fundamental for life and it what it throws at us it teaches us so.muj more than how to fight and defend ourselves, it teach us life skills. Well done Ewrk. Your are a real credit to the local community. I have trained with Alistair many times and he is a true professional in what he does. All my four kids have benefitted from training with him. My son especially who is austistic has overcome so much with the help of the Ewrk team. We can’t thank you enough. I have been training in martial arts for 20 years and 13 of those have been with Alistair as my Sensei. Having trained in a variety of clubs, I find Essex Wado Ryu Karate to be a fantastic club with traditional values and training methods. Sometimes as a woman it can be intimidating entering a new dojo so I was pleasantly suprised to find this club to be warm and welcoming from my first lesson. It is a family friendly club, my son started 3 years ago and also loves it. If you would like to try karate for the first time or if you are looking to return to martial arts, I would say come and give it a try. i have been training with sensi Alister for 5 years now my son has for 2 years now and its amazing i had 0 confidence at all when i first started now i have a bit more. can have a laugh there without being judged if you have any injuries they work around it so you dont get left out. great fun and good stress reliefer to end day too will continue to go as i love it More...

After coming from a shotokan background, I was welcomed warmly into the club and my own ideas and experiences were taken on board and used to help develop the younger students karate. I trained with Sensei Alistair for just over a year. He is a brilliant teacher and always kept an open mind. Students were accepted no matter what background they had come from and you were always treated with dignity and respect. A great place for people to come and learn no matter what skill level as every student was encouraged to progress and keep striving for what they wanted to achieve.
