We recognise that the coaching marketplace is crowded and, as a consequence, clients can face a significant challenge in terms of differentiating between the different types of provider, their style, values, skills, approach and effectiveness. Our philosophy to coaching and to selecting coaches who work with us is based on the following principles:
• Results orientation: We begin coaching by agreeing a set of agreed outcomes and objectives with the coachee. We then work with the coachee in a focused and structured way to achieve change.

• Psychology-focused - Our offer is founded in psychology/psychological principles –we encourage the exploration of values, personality, attitudes, habits, behaviour, thinking, all of which impact on who we are and how we lead. We take confidentiality seriously and are bound by professional standards set by the BPS (British Psychological Society); this enables a safe and supportive space to explore issues feely and openly.

• Insight-driven: We aim to make a difference as rapidly as possible by understanding the coachee’s situation from both the business and psychological perspective, gaining insights into the underlying context and issues. We encourage, support and enable the coachee to gain an insight into themselves and the impact they make on their organisational world. We help them convert that insight into effective action, and to take initial steps to change, flex or adjust their thinking, style and approach.

• Credibility, capability and experience: The majority of our coaches are qualified chartered psychologists and they all possess high level coaching qualifications and accreditation such as the Association of Coaches or the International Coaching Federation. Many are coaching supervisors and all experience supervision themselves as part of their continuing professional development. Just as importantly, each has held a senior position in business and therefore knows what it is like ‘in the real world’ and are able to bring this experience into the coaching sessions.

• Measurement-focused: We seek to help participants measure their progress. This takes a number of forms beyond their subjective impressions and can include online 360 degree surveys, team impact 360 degree surveys and informal contracting with colleagues to seek feedback. Edgecumbe provide a number of different online 360 degree instruments and so these can be designed and actioned with the specific needs of each coachee in mind, at no extra cost.

We offer coaching sessions over skype and if required, can also conduct coaching face-to-face.
