We decided to have our kitchen extended by removing the attached conservatory and erecting a single storey extension that the existing and renewed kitchen could expand into.
We approached Ernest and he gave us some mock-up drawings of what the new extension/kitchen would look like.
We were impressed with these and decided to engage Ernest to draw up working plans that we could then use to obtain planning permission. All went smoothly and when it came to then having building regulations approved, Ernest arranged for a structural engineer and a heating engineer to comment on the proposals and to rework the drawings.
All this led to builders and kitchen fitters being able to start smoothly and we are now the proud owners of an amazing extension and brand new kitchen in line with the plans given.
For instance, we have a waterfall end island of 3 metres in Colonial White granite with a breakfast bar side and a 1.5 metre granite table at the end of this as an additional dining space.
We engaged Ernest to come over at regular intervals throughout the construction work and to comment on progress leading to the successful conclusion that we now enjoy.
We would absolutely recommend Ernest to anyone for his skill and the care given over the transition from idea to reality.

I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Ernest. He guided us through a daunting process knowledgably and professionally, clearly illustrating and guiding us through each of the design and authorisation stages we needed to navigate.
He listened to the requirements for our build and made suggestions to optimise the design which we'd not considered, whilst all the while allowing us the freedom to feel completely in control of our own project rather than taking it over.
We appreciated his very rapid turn around of quotes, drawings and support to applications. It is worth noting that Ernest went above and beyond in pointing us towards some very useful legal advice which proved invaluable when we encountered some challenges from some unsympathetic neighbours. Additionally, his close connection to a reliable and affordable Structural Engineer also made life much more straightforward. We found Ernest at all times to be professional, attentive, supportive and reassuring and should the need arise in future he will be our first call for any architectural services.

What do you love most about your job?
We believe in producing good functional, practical designs that look good and serves the purpose required. Our aim is to listen to the client and provide exactly what they are looking for. And it is most rewarding when we leave a client happy and singing our praises for achieving a successful end result. The most rewarding side of this profession is leaving a client genuinely happy with one of our designs. It is truly uplifting.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I enjoy designing practical and good looking houses. Working previously for some of the companies that I have done was sometimes restrictive in allowing me to have that freedom to explore non-mainstream design on behalf of the client. Forming a trusting relationship with clients who want you to provide solutions to their design in which they are heavily investing is a challenging undertaking which I enjoy achieving. The inspiration to have the freedom to design desirable homes which make people happy is a good driver for me.
Why should our clients choose you?
We are backed up by years of experience, which helps in understanding how the construction and regulatory system works. The key to getting the desired results from the Planning or Building Regulations applications is knowing and understanding the statutory requirements and this has assisted us in our high record of obtaining positive and successful decision awards from the local authorities for our clients.
Planning application submission
We will help and guide you to provide all the necessary documents and drawings required for the planning application and submit the application to the planners. We also liaise with the local authority planning department on your behalf.
Building Regulations application and submission
We will help and guide you to provide all the necessary documents and detailed construction drawings required for Building Control at the appropriate stage. We will put all this together as a design package and submit on your behalf. We also liaise with the local authority Building Control department in your favour.
Build-over co-ordination
Any existing access chamber associated with scheme proposals which require removal or relocation are subject to receiving a Build-over permission from the water authorities before works can be carried out. If this service is required we will liaise with and obtain the relevant consent from the water board in charge on the clients behalf.
Introduction to Structural Engineer
We will introduce you to a qualified structural engineer to provide the necessary structural design details and calculations.
