What’s your interior design process?
We start each project by producing a set of drawings of the existing layout of a space. We do this by working with a surveyor, or by using detailed dimensions that you provide us with. We arrange a (digital) meeting with each client, to discuss your needs and aspirations for your space. Having heard from you what you want to achieve we develop a design concept that sets out ideas and a strategy for the reworked space.
Some people do seek to have a designer work with them on site from the very beginning of a project right through to the end. However we know many others wish to be supported in developing a strong design vision early in a project, with a clear set of design intent information that helps them take that design concept to a builder, to realise that vision. This is where Design Dot steps in. We offer concept ideas, produce drawings and a produce for each client produce a bespoke design book that empowers each client to go forward to undertake a project themselves with their own chosen builder or craftsperson.
Which interior design styles can you cater for?
Our design approach embraces contemporary design that is elegant, functional and enjoyable. We suggest material palettes that embrace low-cost, intelligent solutions. We enjoy the way contemporary design can be brought into existing spaces, to create a positive meeting between the old and the new.
We know many of our clients are conscious of the environment and ecological issues. Wherever possible we suggest materials with low levels of embodied energy, suggest fittings that are low-energy and finishes that maximise natural ingredients and are ecologically sound.
What do you love most about your job?
We believe in the power of good design. Well designed spaces are more enjoyable to spend time in and they are more functional to use. We believe interior architecture has a positive role to play in making spaces that people really enjoy being in, and feel proud of. We love using our skills to help to make that happen, using our design experience to equip people with ideas for their space that they can take forward to realisation.
What inspired you to start your own business?
We really enjoy working together, designing spaces of our own and for clients. However we know that architecture input can be time-heavy, and not everyone is able to afford full architecture services from the beginning to the end of a project.
We have met many people over the years who want a bit of help at the beginning of a project to develop concept ideas for a space, that they can take forward themselves. So, we established Design Dot to do exactly that - stripping down the process to the key first elements, to offer concept ideas for interior spaces to empower clients at the beginning of a scheme.

Together we have twenty years of combined experience working as trained architects. We have an expansive knowledge of how to create spaces that look great without having to use highly expensive solutions. We listen to our clients and take their aspirations on board, to then deliver a bespoke design book of ideas that has been put together for each project. Design Dot helps set people up on the path to being able to have beautifully designed spaces.
Architecture
We're qualified architects, and experienced in using our skills to design spaces that are full of natural light, are welcoming and well designed and contemporary in skill. We produce drawings and specifications for builders to take forward to construction.
Interior design
Skilled in developing design strategies for interior spaces. We specialise in contemporary design, and wherever possible embrace sustainable materials to ensure your space is low-energy, low carbon to create a clean and modern interior feel. We understand how to use inexpensive materials to great effect, to look great and create spaces you feel proud of.
