We attended a Christmas Night last night ,the room was beautiful all lit up . We were informed there had been a problem with the gas ,so the original menu wouldn’t be possible. (this could happen anywhere) Staff did their best to maintain high standards we had soup ,Turkey baps and either cheesecake or Christmas pudding..all credit to the chef as food was superb !! Everyone Was given a complimentary drink which more than compensated for the missing veg ..then we were reimbursed £10 from the original cost ..this gesture was amazing as the quality of food and the band were well worth the money paid !! Stayed here for a couple of nights in November. We found it to be a very cosy place to stay. The public areas were all trimmed up for Christmas and it all looked really nice. The room was warm and cosy and the bed was comfortable. The shower was powerful enough and the temperature remained constant. We ate in the restaurant on both evenings and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only thing about our stay which left us disappointed was the noise from the floor above as they got up at 6am, for work presumably. First they dropped something heavy on the floor which woke us both up with a start. Then every footstep was a loud creak from the floorboards, it really was quite unbearable. Then he made a phone call to his other half...how do we know?...because we heard the conversation!! A bit of soundproofing would be a good idea. Aside from that it was a very good stay. More...

Pleasantly surprised. To the folks who complained about creaky floorboards, get a grip. It's an old building and that's just part of its character. Food was fine, beer good and well priced and room was clean and well looked after. Very good bathroom too. Well worth a visit, you will be welcomed by friendly approachable staff. Excellent rural pub and hotel. The staff were very welcoming and friendly as were the locals in the bar. The evening food was excellent and the manager and bar staff could not have made us more welcome.

Great Sunday Carvery. Food beautifully cooked. Plenty of it. Great value. This place is well worth a visit for the Sunday Carvery. The meals are always very tasty. I had beef and pork today & both tasted every bit as good as they looked. Staff are generous with the portions of roast meat and there’s a wonderful assortment of lovely fresh veg from which to help yourself. My favourite’s the roast parsnips, they’re scrumptious- but all the food is cooked just right and is constantly being replenished. The staff are pleasant, willing & helpful, & nothing’s too much bother. The manager is friendly & chatty & keeps on top of things, making sure all is running smoothly. The Carvery room is large, & airy. The tables are well spaced out so you don’t feel on top of each other & the white table cloths are pristine. Plenty of parking space. Hotel bit tired in places but this is obviously being worked on.||We were in room 7 ground floor and yes there were noises from above floorboards but this was not too bad. The room looked like it had been updated recently and was clean.||Meals and service at bar were really good so much so we eat in every night ( this was not our intention).||We found the staff really friendly and helpful.||Definitely would go back if visiting this area again. Hotel dated but clean and tidy. Standard rooms were a let down, very creaky floorboards, missing tv remotes, We had superior room and could not complain. Comfortable beds fresh and clean and lovely and warm. Plenty to eat for breakfast and evening meal. We booked last minute for a night away from the kids. Not expecting much at £29!!! Including breakfast.. The decor is lovely and fresh. The hotel was clean and room spotless. Ensuite in room 20 looked brand new, nice shower. The bed was comfy, but pillows not great. Tea and coffee facilities. Hairdryer was amazing and put my Dyson to shame. Big fluffy towels. You can check in from 12. There is qood quality free WiFi.||||The menu is varied and reasonably priced. The food is value for money and tasty. The bar had a nice atmosphere with families dining. All the staff were friendly and service was very good throughout our stay. ||||If I had paid full price I'd of moaned about no sausages left at breakfast but the breakfast was lovely anyway. We had our son’s christening here on Sunday and we were so impressed with it all. We came 4 years ago when it was our daughter’s christening which was why we decided to come back but it has improved so much since then. The room was dressed beautifully for the day and so many guests commented on nicely decorated it was. The food was great and I know our guests really appreciated the carvery with comments on the lovely tender meat etc. The staff have been great throughout also. We have not been here for a while, there was plenty to choose from on the menu, the staff are a credit, very helpful and pleasant. The food, all 3 mains could not be any better. Guess what ..... even proper chips that a lot of pubs do not do. The prices were also reasonable but then we don't mind paying for good food. We shall be shaking off the other pubs and making this our go to for lunch. Well done and keep it up, we shall be back soon for another lovely lunch More...

We had our wedding here last week and we would definitely recommend. Nothing was a problem for the staff they were amazing! So helpful. We had some last minute problems with a hire company and the staff pulled together to find a new company last minute. The food was lovely just what we wanted . Stayed during bank holiday weekend - room was basic but large and had everything you'd need for an overnight stay (although no toiletries). Decent breakfast and staff were all very friendly and helpful.||There was a wedding function on the night I stayed and the rooms aren't sound-proofed very well so there was a bit quite a lot of noise from the corridors with people coming-going from the event (maybe an issue if you are a light sleeper).||Overall a good value, basic but comfortable stay.
