How long have you been in business?
I have been a carer for the past 15 years, working with the elderly in residential and care homes as well as young people in care.
I opened my business in 2017
What do you love most about your job?
This is the kind of job which is very fulfilling it is without doubt the most rewarding job. It makes a difference in the lives of people especially knowing we assist them to continue to.
live safely and comfortable their own homes with all the help that they need. Which otherwise without our services they would opt to go to a care home as the last resort even if they would have wished to take their last breath in the comfort of their homes.
I am mostly moved and touched by the impact which we sometimes have in families that are rather worn out, distressed and torn apart by the burden of caring for their loved one/s.
We have see dramatic family reunions and mending of broken relationship as we bring the relief needed by families and in most cases they are not even aware that such fragilities may may result from being overwhelmed and worn out by caring duties.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was inspired to start this business as I worked in a residential home where I met so many elderly people who cried in our arms for many days and weeks because they lamenting for their homes as they would have had to be brought into a care home because they had no one to assist them at home.
Most of them stayed for months hoping they will go back the next day which was constant heart ache to us knowing they will never see their homes again.
We saw others deteriorating rapidly as soon as they came in because they felt the world was cruel to them and that old age was a curse more than a blessing.
To me assistants at home was the way to go so as to allow the elderly, disabled and the unwell to remain in the comfort of their homes if they so desire.
