Bronson just graduated from 6 great weeks of classes! We both loved going and meeting other people with dogs and learning new tricks. After a year of struggling with Lachie our cross Lab/Collie we contacted James for some help. Lachie had socialisation issues lunging and barking at people and other dogs. James came out and spent three hours out with Lachie identifying his issues. He left us some tips and suggested we join the Reactive Group. On his first visit to the group Lachie could not take part as he was so anxious. He managed to join the other dogs towards the end of the second session. Since then his progress has been nothing short of remarkable. He is now able to take part in social walks with the group and he very rarely reacts with other dogs in the group. James is superb giving us confidence and giving wee tips during each class. Still a bit of work to be done with Lachie but am sure we will get there with James's help More...

My Malimute/Husky Zoro is reactive to other dogs bur also people. After my initial consultation with James he asked if I would like to attend his reactive class and this has made such a difference to Zoro not only with dogs but people as well. I have a very hyper puppy, James is able to gain his attention instantly and has helped me get his focus. His puppy classes are fun and no pressure at all. Small classes so that each puppy gets the right amount of attention and the location is ideal. Not crowded but with the right amount of distraction. James is super patient and never makes you feel like you are doing things wrong, which can happen in other classes. I would not hesitate to recommend him for both 1-1 and the classes. My little terrier-cross Thistle, didn't have the best start and after I got her, we started a block of post-puppy classes and we also did a private lesson to work on issues with other dogs and a fear of traffic. We have two chocolate Labradors, Charlie Brown and Yogi Bear who are wonderful good natured beasts but due to being bitten whilst on the lead a couple of times they are now petrified and therefore reactive to any dogs approaching when they can't get away. I have read and watched many tutorials about how to fix this and confused myself and unfortunately the dogs too but thankfully we found James and I can't believe the difference in them after only six weeks, in fact after one week it was noticeable.
One 'one to one' class with them both and then only taking one dog to reactive training so far but using the positive reinforcement on them both when we are out has been amazing. We have a long road ahead but can't recommend him highly enough.
I'm also taking Yogi Bear to his adult classes and he loves it. Our dogs are enjoying their walks again, I'm delighted, thank you. More...

Highly recommend! I am actually quite sad that classes are over! Being a first time dog owner I was very worried that my lack of knowledge would hurt our puppy and looking back I know that without the classes that would have been the case. I have seeked help from James several times for different reasons with both my dogs. My eldest dog is very anxious and doesn’t like strangers. James is always great around her and knows exactly what’s going to make her feel more comfortable and safe instantly.

I met James back in May of this year when I hosted Aberdeens first reactive Rovers Seminar and Workshops with Lothlorien Dog Services owner, Claire Staines. Since then we have become friends and meet often to help one another with training our dogs. James has been a huge support to me and my reactive terriers and I wish him well for the future. James has been helping me work with my Viszla, Mia for the last two years. She is a complex dog with lots of issues. Prior to working with James I tried various other trainers but the methods they used did not work or I did not agree with the principles they used. Jim uses current evidence based practice, combined with positive reinforcement. He specialises in working with "reactive dogs". He treats every case individually and takes time to understand why the dog is having issues.
What is really helpful is that he gives the owner methods for coping with a challenging dog in the real world, my one to one lessons with him have been invaluable, they give me the confidence to deal with most situations that arise out on our daily walks. More...

Our dog has issues with unknown males approaching him. James gave us lots of good advice, and showed us ways to divert him, both practically, and with info re diet, etc. He also taught us recall methods, which our dog was able to pick up almost immediately, so with practice, should enable him to return immediately, when called.
The most impressive thing is James uses no forceful methods, he aims to train whilst being respectful to the dog, thus gaining trust back in return. Would have no hesitation in recommending him atall.? More...

My English bull terrier Caesar is reactive to all dogs and I couldn't enjoy my walks with him so I avoided going out. A year later after working with James and regularly attending the reactive class Caesar and I are much more relaxed and best of all I now have the knowledge to manage his reactions. I would highly recommend! James was a star when he came to see bolt, our deaf terrier, he got control of his blasts of energy where he would normally become aggressive and managed to teach us some good distraction methods of keeping his focus and to calm down. .
