Having searched around and recieving some stupid quotes for installation of an EV charging point, I came across Economy EV, who it has to be said, provided a first class service from start to finish. Their communication was first class, as were the team who fitted the charging point. They were very knowledgable in all matters EV charging and answered my many questions and concerns. I placed an order for a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV wall charger via the Economy EV website. I believed the economy part would be in relation to the price, but it also appeared to apply to the integrity of the business owner. The installation date came and went without any news, however the business owner called me the following week to arrange the installation at short notice. I made it clear I was away, but said they were welcome to install without me being there if it was easier on their agenda. Once the installation was complete I was sent an invoice, and rather than ignoring it I proactively made assurances that I was away, but would inspect the installation when I returned in 3 days, and if all was as it should be then I would pay the invoice immediately. This was met with resistance, as they wanted paying without inspection, but my intuition told me to hold off. When I returned I very quickly discovered that the wrong charger cable had been installed, i.e. it wasn’t the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV charger that I had ordered. I queried this with the business owner, but was told it was my fault for selecting the wrong charger and I needed to pay the invoice. I of course have an order for a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV charger in black and white, so refused to pay until the work/order was complete. I was told someone would switch the cable when they were next passing but no firm date was given. Two weeks later I received a call out of the blue from the business owner to say they the installer would be with me shortly. Luckily I was free and was able and I oversee the activity this time. The correct charge head was then installed, but I was told by the installer the charge head wall mount wasn’t in the box, and he would have to come back another time, so he left with an obsolete and unusable charge head wall mount still screwed to the front of my property. The business owner then contacted me for payment, and I made it clear that someone either needed to remove the charge head wall mount and patch it up, or swap it for one that was compatible with my charger. The business owner then threatened me with a debt collection agency, but I politely reminded him that if they finish the job I would pay the invoice immediately. Three weeks later when I was away (again), the business owner sent me a picture of a compatible charge head wall mount that had been swapped out, and demanded payment once again. The picture also showed that my front door was open, so I have no idea how they gained access to my property, which is extremely worrying. I asked how they had gained access and received no reply. On this basis I would not recommend Economy EV. More...
